Hi Swiss Alps Friends,

We A family of 4 will be in transit in Lucerne at the end of July.

We want to do the golden tour on Friday–Do we go through a travel agency? What is the best way? Any tips, please.

Sat – We have a half day because we have to return to Basel to catch our flight back to the UK. Is the river tour a possibility.

Any recommendation for a family friendly hotel for 1 night with breakfast or other alternatives.

Any advice much appreciated.

• you may either mean the Golden Pass train ride or the Golden round trip up to Pilatus. You can arrange for both trips yourself. • do you mean a river cruise in Basel? That’s an option indeed, but I’d recommend to explore the Lucerne area instead as it’s much more scenic. Tips can be found at myswissalps.com/lucern e/activities. You’d manage to visit the old town, get up to Pilatus or Rigi, or make a boat ride over Lake Lucerne in half a day;

The Luzern area is very scenic. Beats Basel, for sure.
