Where is this village in the Swiss Alps?

Hi there. I spent years admiring this picture by my parents dinner table. They bought the photo in France in 1995! I am on a mission to locate the village. The church tower is the key to find the right place.

I shared this photo with an international group and I have narrowed down my search within the Swiss Alps. Any leads where this might be?

Hi NycRb and welcome to MySwissAlps,

I am afraid these pictures do not ring a bell to me but maybe other forum members will be able to help you with this misery.

I’m going for somewhere in Graubünden. Poschiavo perhaps? Just guessing – no solid evidence but that style church is common over that way and in the Ticino.

Thank you! You directed me to the right region! I found it!!! Splügen!

Now I need to plan a trip to visit it.

Well done. It’s just under 3 hours form Zurich Airport by train to Chur and bus to Splügen.

The trees have grown in the more recent photo attached.

Thank you again. My family lives in Brazil (where the frame resides) and I live now in the United States (California).

I’ve been to Lucerne, Interlaken and Zurick, but not that south. I will need to visit next time I am in Europe.

I can’t thank you enough. So glad I found this forum.

Great to see that the mystery is solved! To read more about the cantons of Graubünden and Ticino that Rockoyster mentioned, please start here:

Nice work. I was considering (erroneously) the Lötchsental.
