Adventure Card map
The Adventure Card allows unlimited traveling in eastern Valais and western Graubünden. This includes Andermatt, Brig, Disentis, Domodossola, Kandersteg, Saas-Fee, and Zermatt.
The card offers discounts on travel in nearby areas and mountain transport. Download the map for the full overview.
How the map works
- Free and discounted traveling is explained at the bottom of the map.
- Traveling with the Adventure Card applies to all trains operating on the indicated lines and which are listed in the timetable. The train type (InterCity, local, panoramic) and the operating company do not matter. Panoramic trains such as the Glacier Express are thus included.
How does the Adventure Card work?
Adventure Card travel days
The travel days can be used as you like, either consecutively or non-consecutively.
Seat reservations
You do not need seat reservations for 99% of all trains and buses in Switzerland. You can just board with your Adventure Card. Exceptions are some international trains and a few panoramic trains like the Glacier Express.
If you need or want seat reservations, you need to arrange for them separately. Seat reservations are not included in the pass.
Once you’re on board
You will need to present your Adventure Card (and the discounted ticket if applicable) to ticket controllers upon request. The controller may want to check your passport as well, to make sure you’re the owner of the presented pass.
When do you need an additional ticket?
There are two types of trips:
- Trips on routes that allow free traveling. You can board any train or bus on such routes. You do not need a ticket.
- Trips on routes that allow discounted traveling. Before you board, you need to arrange for a discounted ticket. You can do so online, through a ticketing machine, or at the ticket office of staffed train stations.
My tips for Adventure Card holders
- Don’t miss the Lötschberg Mountain Railway (the local train to Kandersteg in the Bernese Oberland). It’s included free of charge.
- You’ll get a discount on the entrance to the Matterhorn Museum Zermatlantis in Zermatt.
- The Glacier Express is free from Zermatt to Disentis, excluding the seat reservations.
Adventure Card FAQ
-
How do I know if the Adventure Card is my best option?
It’s a good fit if you travel mostly in eastern Valais and western Graubünden. Another good reason is the flexibility of ticketless travel on the free travel days. The pass is suitable if you don’t travel every day, or if your stay is no longer than 5 days.
It’s not a good fit for longer stays, or if you want to explore a bigger area. In that case, you can find a better pass here.
-
Does the Adventure Card offer discounts on anything else than travel?
Yes, you’re entitled to discounts on various activities. Examples are museums, the Furka Pass steam train, and bike rental. Please download the map for details.
-
What are my options if I do not select a travel day?
The pass doesn’t offer benefits on other days than the selected travel days. You can search for another pass if you need more than 5 travel days.
