    Hello forum folks.

I have a 15 day Swiss Travel pass for September. Do I need look into any other passes for St. Salvator(?) in Lugano, Mt. Corvatsch,(St. Moritz) Gornergrat, Kliene Matterhorn, Peak Walk (Glacier 3000), Mt. Titlis, Grindelwald First, Jungfrau Joch? I know that’s a handful, but in my readings it appears that the Swiss Pass has all of it covered as far as discounts go. Do I need any half fare cards or any other passes? Thank you for any further advice and have a great day.

    Hi Danielsan,

No, it is very rarely worth the cost of buying another rail pass after you’ve bought the Swiss Travel Pass to get possibly better discounts in some mountains or regions.

You can compare buying different rail passes to see which is best for your entire trip. But I’d be very surprised if any other pass is better, considering you seem to be moving around a large part of the country.

    Hi Lucas,

Thank you for your quick response, and for any of the other responses I may have been remiss in expressing my thanks.

Also, I am taking the Golden Pass to Interlakin (stayin in Wengen). I can’t check into hotel in Wengen until 1500 hrs. As such, I want to go to Niederhorn and the caves at St Beatus. I want to take train to Spiez and boat to Beatenbucht where the funicular is to Neiderhorn. I have a few dilemma’s though.

1: I still have the big case. 2: I don’t want to lug that around Neiderhorn and the caves. 3: The getting to the St. Beatus caves AFTER coming down from the Niederhorn.

Should I just take the train to Interlaken and put bag in a locker there, and take boat to the funcular at Beatenbucht? If so, get to the caves by taking the funicular all the way back down after the descent from Niederhorn and bus from there? Or is there a more direct route to the caves? It looks like a very convoluted way to caves at base of Niederhorn without taking funicular all the way back to Beatenbucht. Sorry for any confusion but am puzzled at this point. I want to go on a boat on Lake Thun, Brienz, or both and this would give me a chance to do at least one lake.

Thanks again to you and anyone else who may be of any help.

Yes, I’d store luggage at Interlaken Ost train station for sure.

The timetable will give you the direct routing from any town or mountain to another. http://www.myswissalps.com/ti metable

If you are going to the caves after Niederhorn you can take the funicular and then bus which would be the quickest option.

From Interlaken you can catch a boat from “Interlaken West (see)” to “Beatenbucht (see)”.
(see = lake in German and you have to put that word (in brackets) to get the boat options)

Thank you Lucas. This gives me something to do before I can check in to room in Wengen, which as I mentioned, isn’t until 1500 hrs. Thanks again.

Hi Lucas, just want to be clear here on this. You’re saying to take train to Interlaken Ost, yes? Then back to Interlaken West, (for the boat), which appears to be a stones throw from the train? Ok great. Looks like I can go to either Harder Kulm too, or Schynige Platte (via Wilderswil) on the way to Wengen, if time permits. I am so looking forward to this!! Ok, that’s great. Lot’s of options here. Thanks again.

The boat dock is very close to Interlaken West train station. You can get off there as well rather than Interlaken Ost (trains from the Golden Pass route will stop there as well). There are luggage lockers and a left luggage office there too.

Yes lots of options around Interlaken to keep you busy. The timetable will give you all the details from any train station / town to any other to help you make your plans.
