In a word , you can’t – sorry
As its name suggests, the Swiss travel Pass is generally valid only within Switzerland. Lake Como is wholly within Italy.

In theory for Salzburg (in Austria, served from Switzerland by Railjet trains) you can use the Swiss pass as far as Buchs SG (the border between Swiss and Austrian railways) but in practice it is probably easier to buy a ‘global price’ ticket as this is how international fares tend to work nowadays. If travelling form Chur, use your pass as far as the point where you would pick up the Railjet, ie Sargans (buy a Railjet ticket Sargans – Salzburg)

The Swiss Travel Pass will cover you to Chiasso on your way to lake Como.
Do you have a Swiss Travel Pass Flex? If you have a continuous pass then you are going to wasting days unless your trips into both Italy and Austria are day trips.

Hello Janbarn,
Have you looked into multi country passes as an alternative?! You don’t really state your itinerary, so it’s just a suggestion for the moment.

Maybe it’s an idea to read:

Thanks for the suggestions. We will be traveling with an 8 day Swiss Travel Pass only in Switzerland for the 8 days (flying into Zurich, heading from the airport directly to Lucerne (2 nights), Interlaken (3 nights) and then Lugano (2 nights) to Tirano for the Bernina Express to Chur (one night)), except for one day trip to Italy: from Lugano to Lake Como. Then, on the 9th day, we will travel from Chur to Salzburg, Austria before flying home from Munich. I wasn’t sure if I would buy a train ticket from the last station in from Lugano, Switzerland to Como in Italy and, again, from the last station from Chur, Switzerland to Salzburg, Austria. I probably won’t use the 8 day STP the first day, since we’ll only be going from the airport in Zurich to Lucerne that day. Thanks so much!

Hi Janbarn,
Then the first two links in Rockoyster’s answer are the ones for you, as will need to purchase train ticket from “the last border town where the train stops” to Lake Como and all the way Chur – Salzburg for day 9.
To find the stops of any connection make sure you get familiar with the timetable below, where you can find all of this information.
