- You receive our confirmation email. Please check your spam folder if you can’t find it.
- If our Plan + Package service is the best match for you, we’ll proceed with follow-up questions to fully understand what you need. We’ll then design a draft travel plan that is unique to you, your interests, the season, and the time you have. We’ll also give you a cost estimate. If Plan + Package is not the best match, we’ll suggest an alternative way to plan your trip.
- If you want to continue, we’ll ask for a CHF 49 service fee (see the FAQ for details). We’ll then continue fine-tuning your final travel plan in detail, until you’re perfectly happy with it.
- We’ll check which of our partners fits best with your itinerary, and we’ll request a quote for your travel package.
- You’ll receive 1 full week of Quote Support: we’ll change hotels/rooms and other accommodation until you are fully satisfied. Once you’ve confirmed you want the travel package, we’ll guide you through the booking process.
- Our partner handles all accommodation, rail pass, train, and excursion bookings for you.
- We follow up with your personal travel plan PDF, with the detailed instructions, links and insider tips you need for effortless transfers and excursions. That’s also when your 15 days of complimentary Trip Planning Help begin (value: CHF 339): email us any remaining questions you may have about traveling in Switzerland, your excursions, or other trip-planning dilemmas. A 5/5 star rating is not really adequate for MySwissAlps because they are a 10 star travel agency! My husband and I had been wanting to visit Switzerland since we were married almost 30 years ago – it literally was on the top of our bucket list for that long. As I began researching traveling Switzerland by rail (hours and hours of research!) I was having a hard time finding an itinerary that matched what we were looking for – staying in smaller villages, off the beaten path, and having access to lots of hiking trails. Somehow after weeks of searching online, I stumbled on MySwissAlps. As I began to read how they help travelers customize their itinerary to their specific wishes, I felt like I had hit the jackpot! I admit I was hesitant to get too excited as I thought a customized itinerary was sure to be WAY more expensive than the pre-planned itineraries on other websites. But I filled out the questionnaire about what I was looking for anyway thinking it didn’t cost anything to at least give them a try. What I experienced from Annika at MySwissAlps from then on was nothing short of outstanding service! I submitted my form one evening and had an email from her when I awoke the next morning! If I had a question or needed info from her, it was only a matter of hours and she was back in touch. Overall, we had a very good trip. My Swiss Alps could not be held accountable for the 90° plus days that we endured. Train trip to Lacorna was beautiful. We did not go to Bellinzona To see the castle grande, as it was 95° and walking, even a couple blocks produced a drenching sweat. The hotel Maggiore was five star in every way. Luckily, we were able to eat at the restaurant in the hotel as every other one we looked at had no air conditioning or wanted to forgo the cost of closing doors and windows and having air conditioned indoor dining. It would be repetitive to talk about further trains because they were all very good.. The extra space of first class was worth the cost. . In Lucerne the Hotel Schweizerhof was a well earned five star. Their concierge was one of the two best we have ever used. The old town was much like many other old towns in Europe. Again it was 94° so we didn’t walk a whole lot. likewise, the cogwheel train was deleted secondary to heat. We substituted the transport, museum and thoroughly enjoyed it. The food in the hotel restaurant was Michelin quality. The Victoria, hotel and spa in Interlochen was five star. Although still very hot, we did take the funicular and enjoyed the fantastic views. Food in the hotel was outstanding. At this point things began to fall apart. All trains from Brig to Zermatt were canceled due to”natural event” and there was no assurance that they would be open the next day. To put it mildly the hotel ambassador was a 1 star hotel. No air-conditioning and the lowest temperature in our room that night was 84°.Our included meal was a shoe leather pork chop. Of note, was that terrible meal was in the same restaurant that had a 4-5 star menu for patrons coming to eat not getting an included meal. We then improvised and became our own travel agent and moved our next afternoon glacier express to the morning at an additional cost of over Fr.100.The SBB clerk who helped was the best thing in Brig. It was worth it to leave Brig as quickly as possible .There really isn’t anything in Brig. Seeing that there wasn’t going to be any air-conditioning in our hotel at Chur we just continued on to Zurich. My wife took over as travel agent and secured a room at the hotel Marriott in Zurich which was very good. I took over the ground transportation. At this point, I felt very confident in dealing with the train system in Switzerland. We stayed at the.Storchen which was very enjoyable and has a Michelin restaurant. Wonderful meal. Long delays in the hotel due to an inadequate one elevator operation that was used not only by the guests, but room service and housekeeping. What a beautiful city Zürich is, and we enjoyed the beautiful sites and outstanding museums.We stayed our last night in the Radisson Blue at the airport to ease the logistics of navigating the airport. Both incoming and outgoing we were stuck in the terminal, not connected to the main airport. You walk about half an hour or more to get to your gate. I would recommend that anyone leaving fairly early, to stay at one of the hotels at the airport.

So much information! Great resources for planning our adventure! The professionally written articles are great in themselves, but the icing on the cake is the great responsiveness to questions; there is so much information that they freely provide with advice, links, etc no matter the itinerary, budget, or interests. I received a quote that was not in my budget, and they were happy to suggest I book my trip on my own and provided personalized resources, with no pressure to increase my budget or attempts to pressure me into using their paid service. What does MySwissAlps Plan + Package cost?
It’s free to get started. We’ll ask you questions to make sure we know exactly what kind of trip is best for you, and we’ll design a first version of your travel plan. We’ll also provide a cost estimate for the package.
If you want to continue, we charge a service fee of CHF 49*. This covers the detailed planning phase, where we will:
1) fine-tune your travel plan until it’s perfect;
2) select our best partner for your travel plan, and request an exact package quote from them;
3) provide 1 week of Quote Support. We’ll adjust hotels/rooms or apartments in your package until you’re happy, and guide you through the booking process.If you book your package within one week of receiving your initial quote, we will also:
4) create your detailed personal Swiss travel plan PDF, with your day-to-day activities, timetable instructions for each trip, directions on how to reach your accommodations, and town and activity guides;
5) provide 15 days of free Trip Planning Help via email, so you can travel confidently with no questions left.If you need more time decide, you can extend your Quote Support for another week. We’ll charge a second service fee for that. You’ll still qualify for the detailed personal Swiss travel plan PDF and free Trip Planning Help.
If you wish to change your itinerary after receiving your initial quote, we also charge a second service fee. We’ll then fine-tune your itinerary and arrange for a new quote. What does the travel package cost?

How long does it take before I receive my travel plan and package quote?
Making a plan and arranging a quote for you takes 1 to 2 weeks.

Am I required to book the package?
No. You’re not required to book the package offered by our partner. We selected them carefully, though; you’ll be in good hands!

How much time do I have to decide?
Once you’ve received the travel package offer, you can take all the time you need to decide or request changes. But please note:
1) Reservations are not secured until you have confirmed your booking, so hotels, apartments and trains can book out in the meantime, and prices can change.
2) You’ll receive 1 week of Quote Support. You can extend this for a fee; please see the FAQ “What does MySwissAlps Plan + Package cost?“.
3) You’ll receive your detailed personal travel plan PDF and 15 days of free Trip Planning Help after booking, provided that you finalize your booking while your Quote Support is still active. -
Can I change my itinerary after receiving the package quote?
Yes, you can. However, before we arrange your quote, we’ve extensively fine-tuned and discussed your itinerary with you. This is to make sure we have designed the best possible trip for you. It is rarely needed to make structural changes later, but we can still make changes to your accommodation once you have received your initial quote.
Changes that affect your itinerary can still be made: we’d ask you for a small service fee (see FAQ “What does MySwissAlps Plan + Package cost?”), discuss the changes with you to make sure it’s exactly what you want, modify the itinerary, and arrange for a new quote. Itinerary changes may include changing your travel dates, base towns, the number of nights per town, panoramic trains, and day trips.

No. A personalized travel package is typically more expensive than a DIY trip. That’s because it is tailor-made for you, experts will help you, and all bookings will be handled for you. You’ll save a lot of time and end up with the best possible travel plan, plus personal assistance.

Do you guarantee a “perfect” itinerary?
No. We have a lot of travel experience in Switzerland and answer questions every day, but still, there are limits to what we can do. We’ll do our best for you! Also, it’s common to have more on your wish list than what realistically fits into the number of days you have available. We too still have that problem when we’re in Switzerland!
We will make sure you can make the most of your time in Switzerland. We’ll give you a realistic travel plan that meets all of your requirements, with towns and trains perfectly connected for a comfortable and scenic trip.

If you know exactly what your trip should look like, and have already finalized your itinerary, we can still help with an easy, secure way to book everything. We’ll check your travel plan, arrange a quote, and help you fine-tune it. See how it works.

Can you include other countries in my itinerary, or just Switzerland?
If you will be visiting multiple countries, we’ll create an itinerary for the Swiss part of your trip. We’ll also make sure your entry and exit points in Switzerland make sense for a convenient arrival and departure. If you want, we can include train tickets to and from Switzerland. We don’t design itineraries for other countries, because our expertise is Switzerland.

Who’s responsible for my trip?
Our travel package partner is responsible for the logistics and the bookings. They will ensure the correct trains are reserved, and your hotel rooms, apartments/chalets and excursions are booked. You can contact them in case of issues during your trip (issues are extremely rare!).
You are responsible for verifying that the itinerary we design, along with the accommodation and other items listed in your quote, meets your requirements. You’ll be traveling on your own. Your trip is not guided. Guided excursions are possible though.

When should I book my personalized package?
Switzerland is popular. We advise starting your Plan + Package request 6 to 11 months in advance. 11 months is best for popular seasons like Christmas and mid-summer.
Once you have received your quote, it is best to book as soon as you are happy with the designed trip and selected hotels, apartments or chalets. Nothing is reserved for you until you book. Until then, the accommodations and trains in your offer can be booked by others, and prices can change.
Panoramic trains can sell out 3 to 6 months before travel. Limited premium seats, such as the Glacier Express Excellence Class, are often booked out much earlier. The best hotel rooms and holiday homes at the best prices get booked well in advance, too.
Don’t worry if you’re late! We can always arrange a fantastic trip. Just be aware that we may not be able to fulfill all of your exact preferences.

Can I book accommodation or train tickets myself and buy the rest as a package?
No, unfortunately not. Our Plan + Package service is designed to save you the maximum amount of time, so we offer complete travel packages that include the core elements of accommodation and rail passes/tickets.
It’s not a problem if you have already booked your travel to and from Switzerland, or accommodation at the start or end of your trip. Buying (mountain) excursion tickets on the spot in Switzerland is fine too.

Can I use my loyalty or reward programs to get hotel discounts?
No, that’s not possible. Your travel package will contain excellent hotels that fit your budget, but discounts from loyalty, reward, or savings programs can’t be applied.

Can you include Airbnbs or holiday homes instead of hotels?
While Airbnbs are not available, we can include private holiday homes, chalets and apartments in your package. These properties typically require a minimum stay, e.g. 3 or 7 nights, and availability varies by region and travel dates. For short stays and fast-paced itineraries, hotels are often the most practical option.
We’ll get you the ideal mix of accommodation types to suit your specific itinerary.

Can I ask for specific hotels?
Feel free to mention specific hotels you’re interested in. There’s no guarantee that these can be included in your package, though. Our partner offers a wide range of great hotels all over Switzerland, but not all hotels.
If your preference can’t be included in your package, our partner and we will do our very best to offer an equally great alternative!

Why do you decline some Plan + Package requests?
We want to offer you the very best trip plan. That means we can’t help everyone with the Plan + Package service.
A few examples of why we may not be able to help:
1) Some requests fit better with our area of expertise than others. We have personal experience with particular parts of Switzerland and activities, for example.
2) We can’t help if your situation doesn’t meet these criteria.
3) Sometimes, there are more Plan + Package requests than we can handle. Quality comes first!We’ll always provide alternative options to plan your trip.

Why not go straight to a travel agency to request a package?
MySwissAlps is independent. We don’t book hotels, sell train passes, or anything other than our expertise. We don’t have to include or exclude specific trains, attractions, or accommodation in your itinerary. We only recommend what’s best for you, from many years of personal travel experience. By going through us, you get the best possible travel plan.
We only work with the best travel agencies, so you don’t have to sort that out either. They will convert the travel plan into a travel package.

Who do I buy my travel package from?
You purchase your package directly from an independent Swiss travel agency in our network of trusted partners, not from us. We select the best agency for your specific itinerary. This allows us to focus on what we do best: Switzerland trip planning. Meanwhile, you benefit from the agency’s extensive experience in securing accommodations, train seats, and excursions, as well as from their support team.

Why not ask AI to find me a travel package?
AI can give you an answer instantly. And it may even sound convincing. However, its advice is just an average of what tourists have posted online. The information might be outdated, it might miss important details about your preferences, or it might skip asking you practical questions that make or break a trip. It doesn’t know much about off-the-beaten-path towns and activities, or how to efficiently include them in an itinerary.
AI hasn’t visited Switzerland, and didn’t ride the trains or try the food.
With a pure AI travel plan, you’ll likely end up with an average and possibly flawed trip. Your trip will be like everyone else’s, which is not necessarily best in your particular case.

What is the detailed personal travel plan?
Book your custom-made travel package within one week of receiving your quote, and we’ll personally create a detailed travel document to take with you on your trip. It is a PDF with your day-to-day travel plan, timetable instructions for each transfer and day trip, directions on how to reach your hotels, and your town and activity guides. We’ve handled all the complex logistics so you can enjoy a worry-free trip.
You can keep this document on your phone or tablet for easy access during your trip.

How does Quote Support work?
We’ll arrange your package quote, and explain and modify it for free for a week. The week starts on the day you receive your quote. We will adjust hotels/rooms and other accommodation until you’re perfectly happy.
A week is usually more than enough to decide. But if you need more time or have second thoughts about the itinerary at this stage, you can always extend your support for a small fee. Please see the FAQ “What does MySwissAlps Plan + Package cost?“.

Can I still book if the Quote Support is expired?
If your Quote Support is expired, and you didn’t extend it, you can usually still book the offer. We just can’t help you make modifications to the offer.
In some cases, your offer is available for review online and can be modified by yourself. We strongly recommend not doing so, and let us handle any tweaks to your package. The system is highly customized and changing one hotel can easily break a train reservation, for example.

Why does Quote Support only last one week?
Switzerland is popular, and availability of accommodation and trains can be pretty limited, depending on the selected towns and the time of travel. We’ve intensively worked with you on your itinerary prior to requesting a quote. As a result, a week is usually is usually more than enough to decide about the travel package only, while limiting your risk of accommodation or trains getting booked out in the mean time.

Book your custom-made travel package while Quote Support is still active, and you’ll receive 15 days of free Trip Planning Help (value: CHF 339). This is perfect for asking any remaining questions about the detailed itinerary you received, so every aspect of your trip is absolutely clear. You email your questions, and we’ll reply the next day. If you do not qualify for Trip Planning Help (anymore), you can purchase more help, or you can ask your questions in the MySwissAlps forum. Apart from our support, the package supplier will also be available for your booking-related questions at any time.
