About tickets and reservations
You can buy a point to point ticket for the GoldenPass, or you can travel for free or discounted with a rail pass. See here for guided tours and packages.
Seat reservations are not obligatory. This is how it works:
- Reservations on the Lucerne - Interlaken leg (Luzern-Interlaken Express) are not required, not even in high season. If you do want to make reservations, you can do so through the website of the Zentralbahn. The price varies by season. November to April is cheapest.
- Reservations on the Interlaken - Zweisimmen leg are not needed.
- Reservations on the Zweisimmen - Montreux leg are not required, but recommended in high season. See the timetable for details. The VIP seats on that leg need to be booked and paid for separately. Ask for the availability of VIP seats at one of the railway stations.
