Hi,

Time flies. I am in the last week of my 1 month vacation in Switzerland.

I will be going to Geneva, Lausanne & Montreaux tomorrow from Basel.

My plan:

Monday - Basel to Lausanne and Vevey. Then to Geneva to check in to my hotel.

Tuesday - Geneva to Montreaux and back to Geneva coz I hv booked 2 nights hotel in Geneva

Wednesday - Explore Geneva and then back to Basel in the late afternoon.

1) Is the above itinerary workable? Where is the baggage locker (cabin size) at the Lausanne train station?

2) For Basel to Lausanne on SBB train, there are many options to take either in the direction to Brig, Interlaken, etc. Which option to take that I can enjoy a good scenery?

3) Is boat cruise on Lake Geneva operational?

4) In view of my limited time, what are the attractions that I should go for in Lausanne, Vevey, Montreaux and Geneva?

5) Is it possible to join an English tour in the United Nation on Wednesday?

Thank you.

Hi Jenn Chuah!

1) It's doable. Getting from Geneva to Montreux on Tuesday will take some traveling time: a single trip takes 1h00 to 1h25: https://www.myswissalps.com/timetable. If you're fine with that, there's no need to change anything. But if you prefer to cut back on traveling time you could spend Tuesday in and near Geneva instead. It's an interesting city with plenty of things to explore.

2) The main routes Basel-Lausanne are via Bern and Fribourg, or via Biel/Bienne and Neuchâtel. The Fribourg area is beautiful, and so are the lakes you'll pass when traveling via Biel/Bienne and Neuchâtel. So you can't go wrong with either of them.

3) Yes, boats on Lake Geneva operate but on a limited schedule. You'll find a link to current timetables under "Information on other websites" at www.myswissalps.com/boatlakegeneva/gettingthere.

4) With limited time 'd stick to sightseeing within the towns and avoid time-consuming activities in their surroundings. Please find our tips at:

5) Guided tours in the UN building are available, but as far as I can see only for groups of 15 or more. Private tours are an option too, but those are pricey. You'd best contact them to ask for further options: www.ungeneva.org/en/practical-information/visitors.

I hope you'll have great last holiday week!
