Hello there! We are planning a 15 day trip to Swtizerland in the summer. We ‘ve been to Bernese Oberland and this time we want to cover Geneva , Lausanne, Montreux and then Lucerne and Zurich 🤗. We will fly into Geneva and fly out of Zurich. What’s a good base : Geneva or Lausanne for the first part of our trip? We want day trips to Chamonix , Vevey, and Montreux. We will still spend our time in the Oberland but at the latter end of our trip, we will then base ourselves in Zurich. Is Lichtenstein doable for a day trip too fr Zurich? Any hotel accommodations for a family of 5 is appreciated either in Geneva or Lausanne and Zurich is appreciated 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗.

Hello Samlam,

If you are happy to split your stay between Geneva and Lausanne, this would be sensible. Visiting Chamonix will be easier from Geneva and Vevey and Montreux are within easy distance from Lausanne.

Useful links where you can discover activities in the area and also accommodation tips :-)

Absolutely a day trip to Liechtenstein is doable from Zurich. More details can be found in the activities section on the above Zurich link :-)

Hotels to accommodate 5, perhaps if you see a hotel you like, you can ask if there are connecting rooms or if they can add an extra bed. All of our hotel recommendations can be found at https://www.myswissalps.com/hotels.

Best wishes,

Yolanda

Thank you so much Yolanda! We will look into this.🤗. Regarding the Geneva -Chamonix route, we learened that we can either take the Swiss Tours or the Flixbus? Which is preferable? Will we just show our US passports somewhere at the border? Is Gruyere a good day trip to fr Lausanne? Thank you so much!

Very welcome Samlam,

Yes, don't forget your passports if you are traveling to Chamonix, you may or may not be asked. Yes you can reach Chamonix with Swiss Tours or Flixbus. There are also tour packages, scroll down for more information in the Geneva activities section :-)

Gruyeres is very doable as a day trip from Lausanne, you can reach there in around 75 minutes. Do use the timetable link so you see all timings:

Best wishes,

Yolanda
