    Hello,

I would like some information on the regional trains on the Glacier Express route. Do they cover the same route as the official Glacier Express trains? Also is it necessary to make a reservation on these trains? We will be going to Zermatt for a few days, then we will travel to St. Moritz, but along the way we want to detour for a few days and travel on the Gotthard line. So we would prefer to be on the regional trains and stop when we want. Will these trains be sold out in late June/early July?

Thank you for any information available!

    Hello Marys,

Regular trains and the Glacier Express use the same railway tracks. On regular trains there is no need to make reservations. If you use the Swiss Timetable you can plan the different legs of your route and you will find information about occupancy. The chances that you will not be able to get on a regular train are very small!

By the way, have you decided yet whether one of the rail passes might be of use for you?

    Have a nice stay!

    Hello,
Thank you for the reply. I have had a difficult time finding this information.

Yes, we will probably have the Swiss pass or the Swiss flexi pass since we will be in Switzerland for 9 days. Eurail passes do not cover a large part of this route, correct?

Hi marys. Eurail passes would indeed not cover it for free. You would get a 25% discount with Eurail.
