    hello,
My name is Mukesh shah from India. I need your help regarding my itinerary for
switzerland. I will be landing in Geneva on 20th may 2015 and departing
on 3 rd june 2015 from geneva. I will be buying a swiss pass for 15
days. A total of 4 adults are travelling. I would like to chose Bern as a
base for all the 15 days of my trip.I would avoid shifting my base to
any other city for a part of my trip as i would be having a lot of
luggage and it is inconvenient to travel with so much luggage. The
    following is my itinerary:
20th may- land in geneva at 2 pm and transfer to bern. Cover bern at evening
21 may: go to lucerne and mount titlis
22 may: go to lucerne and do mt pilatus
23 may : go to lucerne and do mt rigi
24 may : go to interlaken and do jungfrau as well as trummelbach
25 may: zurich and rhine falls and basel
26 may: zermatt and gornergrat as well as matterhorn glacier paradise
    27 may: st moritz
    28 may: lugano and bellinzona
    29 may: geneva
30 may :montreux and vevey and laussane
    31 may: interlaken for skydiving
1 june: glacier express route but with local trains and chur as well films lake caumasee
2 june : murren and do via ferrata cliff walking
3 june: return from bern to geneva for flight at 4 pm.

    Kindly
share your views on the itinerary and please advice any changes if
needed. The above itinerary is subject to weather conditions.

    Thanking you,
    Mukesh shah

    Hello Mukesh Shah,

Thanks for joining us! Actually it’s not a bad idea to stay put in one location. Suggested hotels for Bern can be found here (be sure to book one close to the rail station). My main tip for your plans is to carefully check the timetable for all of your trips, and take sufficient time once you reach your destination. Some destinations are simply too far away for a day trip, and you’d better have a few quality visits than many in a hurry.

Your plan for May 25 for example, is simply too much. It’s more relaxed to just visit Zurich and the Rhine Falls. Adding another town results in too little time left at each location.

Traveling to Lugano and Bellinzona and back will take 8 hours for the traveling alone, so there’s not much time left for sightseeing.

An additional bus trip and a bit of walking is required to reach the Caumasee. You can’t combine that with the Glacier Express when based in Bern.

So, most of your plan is fine, but you need to make a few changes to a couple of days. If you really want to visit a destination that’s too far away you could consider a one night hotel stay elsewhere and travel with just a bit of luggage.
