How to reach the Engstligenalp, and route details.

Facts Engstligenalp

About the route

This easy route is particularly suited for wheelchair users, parents with baby buggies, and anyone who would like to take a simple hike yet enjoy a splendid high Alpine landscape. There are hardly any differences in height at this plateau, and the path is paved with gravel. You will have a wonderful view at the mountain peaks surrounding the plateau. The Grossstrubel, part of the Wildstrubel range, is the highest point and marks the boundary with the canton of Valais. Engstligenalp is a winter sports area in the winter, and a giant meadow in summer. Dairy products can be purchased from the small farms. Typical for this landscape are the large rocks lying in the grasslands, and the small clear streams that drain off the melting water from the surrounding mountains.
