Hi Judyjim and welcome to MySwissalps!
I haven’t spent any time in that area in the winter – certainly skiiing is pretty popular though!
Other winter activities that are possible would be snowshoeing, some winter hiking, tobogganing, horse-drawn carriages and skating. You may want to read through the Chur tourism website here and Arosa tourism here for more help.
Other members you have spent time there in the winter may have more specific details for you.
Cheers,
Lucas

Hi Judyjim,
A lot will depend on when exactly you are there and when winter sets in. Late December offers the best chances of snow, at least in Arosa. Chur is not a winter sports place as it’s too low in the valley. But in any case there will be plenty to do, either hiking (on winter trails only if there’s snow) or simply visiting viewing points like the Weisshorn in Arosa (wonderful 360° view).

Hi judyjim
If you were willing to travel a little further afield (travel time 1.75 – 2.00 hours each way), you could visit the beautiful village of Guarda in the lower Engadin. The train trip between Küblis and Klosters is very scenic, as is the sector from Sagliains to Guarda. Guarda itself is a real gem.
The route is Chur to “Guarda, staziun” by train, then a small bus from the station up the mountain to the centre of the village (“Guarda, cumün”). There are some direct train services between Chur and Guarda (trains headed for Scuol-Tarasp, departing Chur at 21 minutes past the hour). Other connections require a change of trains at Landquart (trains headed for Sargans, departing Chur at 31 minutes past the hour).
If you are interested, you can see a trip report about Guarda, and about the train trip between Küblis and Klosters on the following pages:
