We’ll be in Switzerland for 5 days in May, together with our son,5 years old and would like to know best travel combination option in order to buy Swiss Travel Pass,following this plan :
1st day. Midday flight,arrival at Basel Airport, transfer by train to Lucerne,walking around the old town and accommodation
2nd day first trip Pilatus tour, Lucerne accommodation
3rd day Golden Pass line,from Lucerne to Montreux ( on return stopping over in Gstaad for 2 hours) and then accommodation in Interlaken
4th day Jungfraujoch trip, accommodation Lungern
5th day wandering around Lucerne, accommodation Lucerne
6 day transfer by train to Basel Airport
I don’t know which is the best deal as choice for STP (4 days 2 nd class + return ticket for airport transfers) because I can’t see the real cost of the transfer tickets, if possible to get discounted tickets (in our case) or not for transfers from/to airport ( Basel -Lucerne ).

The Swiss Transfer Ticket costs CHF152. Basel EuroAirport to Lucerne costs CHF38.40 one way.
Based on your itinerary you need to do the sums to total the cost of all your planned trips on trains, boats, cable cars etc. You can use the Swiss Train Timetable (http://www.myswissalps.com/ti metable) to work out the fares for any trip. When you go to buy a ticket the fare you see on the right hand side of the page will normally be the half-fare price. Double it to get full fare. With A Swiss Travel Pass it is free provided it is shown as free on the Area of Validity map ( PDF downloadable from http://www.myswissalps.com/sw isstravelpass/validity).
You should read “How to choose the best travel pass” (http://www.myswissalps.com/tr ain/ticketspasses/prac tical/chooserailpass), download the handy spreadsheet calculator and do the math.
On day 3 you might want to think about going one way on the Golden Pass Line and coming back the faster route which will be offered by default using the SBB timetable search. Between Zweisimmen and Montreux there is a short detour on a bus due to construction work on the line. It is therefore not possible to make reservations for that section. Probably not necessary in May anyway.
