Hi, I am planning to visit Switzerland from June 15 to 23rd and then to France. However, I have a rough itinerary. My base shall be at near Stafa train station. And I plan to travel and do not mind the long hours. Below is the rough itinerary which I would like you to comment. I plan to get the 8 day swiss travel pass.

June 16 – Take intercity train from Stafa to Lucerne early morning. Then from Lucerne take the golden pass route ie The Luzern-Interlaken Express ” from Lucerne to Interlaken OST. After that , take the intercity train back to Stafa.

Is the intercity train from one city to another include the golden pass trains or are these two services run separately on its own timetable?

June 17 Take intercity from Stafa to Interlaken Ost. Then change to the golden pass route from Interlaken Ost to Zweisimmen. After that take intercity train from Zweisimmen back to Stafa.

Similarly for the 3rd Section of the Golden Pass route whereby I take to Montreux to Zwiesimmen on another day. Then back to Stafa

For the next few days, the method will be the same for other routes like gotthard panorama express where I shall terminate at one point of the routes and return to my base.

Appreciate your comments on this type of travel itinerary. Thanks in advance.

    CS.

To get to Interlaken from Stäfa you can go or return via Bern or via Lucerne and the Golden Pass Line.

You are going to be spending a lot of time on trains and retracing your steps if you stick to your plan. Montreux is 5 hours one way. Why would you spend 1 day going to Zweisimmen and the next day return there on your way to Montreux?

Stäfa is an unusual base for the trips you plan. It look nice but I wonder what attracted you to that location? Perhaps you should be looking to spend more time exploring the eastern part of Switzerland from there. Maybe look at the Bernina Express route as an alternative to the Golden Pass?
