Need help to decide which pass (Swiss pass or Half Fare card) to buy for the following itinerary (see below) and how to get/where to get the ticket prices for a family of 4 –

    Zurich to Lucerne

    Mt. Pilatus (thru Viator)

    Lucerne to Interlaken

    Visit Jungfrau

    Interlaken to Zermatt

    Visit Matterhorn

    Zermatt to Zurich

    Will appreciate any help.

    Thanks

Hi Ad29 and welcome to MySwissAlps!

In order to know the best pass you’ll need to find the pricing for all trips (not including tours you do with Viator etc) and do the math to compare pricing.

We have a page here with a spreadsheet to help you with the comparison and a link to find prices:
How to choose the best rail pass.

Its the only way to know for sure. For simplicity sake the Swiss Travel Pass is still worth it I think, even if it ends up being a few dollars more.

Thanks Lucas for your reply. If I go with the Swiss Travel Pass, can you tell me if the following trips will be covered under that 100%?

    Zurich to Lucerne

    Lucerne to Interlaken

    Jungfrau

    Interlaken to Zermatt

    Matterhorn

    Zermatt to Zurich

    Thanks

Interlaken to either Grindelwald or Wengen is covered 100% but the rest of the trip to Jungfraujoch is discounted 25%. You can’t travel from Zurich to the Matterhorn – the mountain isn’t accessible. You can travel to Klein Matterhorn or Gornergrat which are both discounted 50% with the Swiss Travel Pass.

The rest is fully covered. Check the PDF map of the coverage area for the Swiss Travel Pass.

How about Interlaken to Jungfrau and Zermatt to Matterhorn ?

Are these covered 100% by Swiss Pass?

Thanks for your prompt replies and help.

See Lucas’ post, above yours. He answers your question about travel from Interlaken to Jungfrau. And the Matterhorn is not accessible. You can view it from other locations, again see Lucas’ response.
