I was in the Rhone Alps region for a wedding last August/September (2018) and as an extension we travelled around Switzerland for 5 days – I have already posted a few of my flickr Albums here of the trip.

We stayed at a few inns/hotels – I thought some of the readers would be interested in a few reviews of some ‘local’ and recommended places to stay.

If you are after an authentic traditions Swiss style pension/Inn, I can recommend the 'Alpenrose' in the Hamlet of Saxeten, about 10 Kms up hill from Interlaken

The winding road from Interlaken to Saxeten has some great views and worth stopping off to take time to snap a few pics and to just admire the view – good views of Lake Thun too

The Inn is an old hunting lodge which has been updated – it is very clean with a good selection of Breakfast food (I’m Vegetarian but there was ample cereal, yoghurt and home made jams) and good coffee

The rooms were clean, and traditional – in the corridors and main dining areas, various ‘hunting trophies’ were adorned on the wall, and a quirky selection of Swiss dolls.

While this sort of lodge may not be suitable for everyone, it does cater for families and I for one really enjoyed staying there – I would return.

There is a ski slope about 800 meters away and they do have storage for ski equipment

The Hamlet consists of just a few houses, but loads of parking available 50 meters from the Inn

    I attach a few pictures

    Hi Desertman,

Wow, what a lovely, remote and beautiful place in the sometimes busy area of Interlaken you found there. Thanks for sharing!

    Best,
    Steph
