Hello Wallah and Welcome to MySwissAlps,
Nice to hear you’re planning a trip to Switzerland.
To find out about the best connections between Wilderswil and Zermatt I recommend using the timetable below, a fantastic tool for any trips in Switzerland.

The route will take you to Zermatt via Interlaken, Spiez and Visp, also lovely places to look at.

Travelling with a dog on Swiss public transport is not a problem, depending on the size of the animal, some costs will apply (half fare ticket) or you need to carry your dog in a bag. Please find details below:

Hi Wallah –
You might consider using the historic older high route through Kandersteg and Brig on one leg at least.
Add’s about an hour, and the scenery is substantially better than the scenery in the tunnel between Spiez and Visp.
That upper route is served hourly by the “Lötschberg Express” or “Lötschberger.”
It has been mentioned in several threads on this forum, so you will find something if you se that term for a search.

On the majority of the Swiss lakes, there is only one ‘company’ at least for the main ‘full size’ passenger boats. (The Swiss transport system still basically operates on a non-competition on a single route basis). On Thunersee and Brienzersee the boats are run by BLS (Bern – Lötschberg – Simplon) the historic company that operates the railway Bern – Thun – Spiez – Lötschberg – Brig – Simplon Tunnel – (Milano).
The usual tourist way to do a day trip from the Interlaken area to Zermatt nowadays would be outbound Interlaken – Spiez (change) – (‘old BLS mountain route’) – Kandersteg – Lötschberg – Brig (change) – Visp – Zermatt. Return Zermatt – Visp (change) – Lötschberg Base Tunnel – Spiez – Interlaken. On the old mountain route your train will be a BLS train, the fast train on the way back from Visp will be SBB.
