We arrived in Zurich yesterday from Los Angeles – all good. We went to train station to buy tickets to Como for September 15 (can’t buy international on app) and we were told we might not be able to enter Italy without EU certificate or Swiss covid certificate. Suggested we wait. I applied for Swiss certificate for Bern (we are going to Wengen) yesterday; only the auto – response so far. Any insight? Is there an Italian site like MY SWISS ALPS? I thought our US vax card and test 48 hours prior would be enough.

You can find more information about the new regulation requiring EU or Swiss Covid certificate to enter Italy here (See the dedicated section: Japan, Canada and the United States).
It’s possible to apply for a Swiss Covid certificate from one of the cantonal authorities but this might take some time. But a useful tip is to use your hotel address when you submit the application. This has certainly helped some of our fellow travellers who applied for their Covid certificates.
I’m sorry there is not much else I can assist in this respect, as I am also still trying to get more information about this.

Our Bern-issued certificates arrived Wednesday when we were traveling by train to Italy. I knew this would guarantee us entry at the border in Chiasso. Ironically, the border agents who entered our train car only questioned two random occupants. I was ready with Swiss certificate, negative test results, and the EU dPLF. We were ignored. I know the certificates will be useful when we return to Switzerland. Thanks again to everyone at MY SWISS ALPS for your amazing assistance.

That is good news with the Covid certificate. And after all that effort, they didn’t even ask to see the cert and test results?? :))) Oh well….
