    Hi Asghar khan,

The regulations are quite strict and I don’t think any meat is allowed. Please find more detailed information here: http://www.blv.admin.ch/blv/en/home/lebensmittel-und-ernaehrung/lebensmittel-reiseverkehr.html.

There is plenty of food available in supermarkets, if you wish not to depend on what restaurants have on offer.

Thank you so much for your prompt response, actually we are family who prefwre home made food instead of restaurants, also being a Muslim we are worried to find halal slaughtered meat shops.

Our stay in zurich, licerne and interlaken. Can you please share locations where we could find halal slouthered meat in these cities.

    Hi Asghar Khan,

Based on my personal experience, it is generally allowed to bring along ready-made and pre-packaged foodstuff for your Swiss trip. However certain restrictions apply to travellers from third countries (outside of EU) pertaining to food stuff containing meat and dairy products. You can find further details here: http://www.blv.admin.ch/blv/en/home/lebensmittel-und-ernaehrung/lebensmittel-reiseverkehr.html

There are various halal and vegetarian restaurants in Zurich, Lucerne and Interlaken. Most supermarkets also carry plenty of vegan options.

In Zurich, you can buy halal meat at Barkat Cash & Carry at Birmensdorferstrasse 141, 8003 Zürich (but there are also various other shops selling halal meat) and fyi, the Zurich Fried Chicken in the old town is halal.

    Hope this helps.

    Regards,

    Anna
