Greenfield Festival: Interlaken station crowds?

I suddenly realised that there will be a Greenfield Rock festival in Inerlaken during our stay in Meiringen. A 30,000 crowd is expected to attend the festival and will likely take the shuttles and trains from Interlaken Ost to the rock concert venue.

    1) Should we be concerned about crowds at the station if we are connecting trains at Interlaken Ost during our sight seeing days that fall between 8-10 June? Worried about the platforms and the station area being very crowded.

    2) How far is the rock concert venue from Meiringen?

We were hoping to have a reasonably quiet stay and wonder whether this rock concert will have an impact during our stay.

    3) We are heading to Wengen on the 13th June after our time in Meiringen. Wondering whether we should go off to Wengen before the 8th.

    Any advice is appreciated.

    Hi traveljet,

Thanks for your questions. I understand your concern.

    1. Yes, I would expect the flow of people will be busier than normal at the train stations due to the music festival. That said, it will be organised if that makes sense. As more people are expected, this will be taken into consideration and marshalled accordingly.

    2. The concert is taking place in Interlaken itself, so if you are in Meiringen, you will not be in direct vicinity.

    3. This is very personal, if your plans are flexible, this is maybe an option for you.

    Kind regards,

    Yolanda

Thanks. Upon checking the hotel in Wengen, there are no rooms for an earlier arrival. I suspect that may be the case for many places during the month of June esp that week. I will look at our options and I guess we can try to avoid Interlaken during those 3 days if we have no other choices.
