    Hello again 🙂

So i would like to go as far as brusio spiral viaduct and experience the journey on the famous viaduct but i am not planning to take bernina express. Is there a local train ( in which case which one, what direction it goes to) that passes the viaduct?

Alternatively, if i take the train to Brusio and get off there will i be able to walk up to the viaduct to see it – not to walk on it – i imagine this is not possible, but to see it and take a few pics?

    Thank you

    Hi Grace2022,

To see the Brusio spiral viaduct in person, take the Bernina Express or local train to the small village of Brusio. It’s located along the Bernina railway between St Moritz and Tirano: https://www.myswissalps.com/berninaexpress/gettingthere. You can use the SBB timetable to check train schedules.

    Regards,

    Anna

Partly because of extra good marketing , the Bernina Express is almost ‘too well known’ such that people think there is no alternative train.

Don’t worry, there are normal trains every hour each way on the Bernina Railway.

To get to the viaduct, do what my wife and I did about 15 years ago, ie take the train from St Moritz to Brusio, then walk down the valley to the viaduct. The easiest way (especially of it is a hot day) carry on down the valley to Campascio station and pick up a local train there.

    Thank you Both.

196oman, Sounds like a good idea. How much time should i put aside to be able to get there from the train station and spend 15 or so minutes there? Also, it this route you suggested well signed posted?

Brusio is in a narrow valley, so you can’t go far wrong. There are two paths but the quickest way is to walk down the road through the village. It takes about 10 – 15 minutes.

You can see the classic yellow walking direction signs on the right of this picture at the base of the lamp post and bus stop sign:
