Hello,

I am planning to buy 4 days Swiss Travel Pass. I noticed that beside SBB there is another website GET YOUR GUIDE selling Swiss Travel Pass cheaper then SBB official site. I have never heard about this website and have following concern

1. Is there any difference in buying Pass from them or any catch as they offering refundable until one day before travel.

2. Anybody in this forum has used this website or know about this website.

Correct, there are several resellers from which you can buy the Swiss Travel Pass. You’ll get the exact same product from each of them. Each reseller can provide different terms and conditions though. Free cancellation until one day before travel can be such a condition. There’s no catch there.

Personally (although I always feel I am in a minority of one of the contributors here…) I dislike resellers offering discounts, as such discounts can sometimes be a bit of a facade. I have never bought (nor ever felt the need to go elsewhere) a Swiss Travel Pass or ticketing product from anywhere other than the ‘Swiss Travel System’ aka Swiss government tourist office aka SBB railway.

Trainline is a good example. They tout themselves as cheap ticket provider but often actually sell the same product as you could get from a railways company’s own website as very often they need to sue the same booking system.

But that is just a personal opinion

I totally second your opinion.

Omio is another example. They sell cheap Eurocity tickets to Milano Centrale. Passengers will only find out on the train during ticket check that they have to change trains in Lugano and travel further by a regional train to Milan, because the Eurocity ticket they bought is not valid in Italy.

Another note: GetYourGuide lists Schilthorn as free with the Swiss Travel Pass. This is not correct.

Wow, I didn’t know about the Omio example – and I’m glad to know I am not in a minority of one!

I dislike Trainline because in one example they would sell ‘discounted’ tickets but then add a booking fee which made the price equal to the price available direct from a train operator…

You are correct, that Schilthorn statement at GetYourGuide must be changed. I have informed them about that. Thanks for mentioning it.

I think this is related more to human errors than to which type of vendor it this. I recently also found a pass coverage error on one of the SBB sites, for example. And the same goes for us. We are proud to offer a website with up to date pass information, but every now and then we make a mistake just like everyone else. We correct that asap.

As for the Omio EuroCity to Milan issue: I recommend to let them know about that, because it does not sound like something they want to happen to people. I’ve not heard about it before and I am not sure if they are aware of it.
