    Hello,

My friend and I are excited to be travelling to Switzerland and will be spending one day in Montreaux. We will be touring the Castle Chillon and then would like to go there to Lavaux. Would you be able to advise ways to get there? I believe I could get a train from ‘Veytaux-Chillon. Is this station close to the castle so that I could walk? Do trains come frequently? What about the boat? Is the dock close to the castle? . How frequently do the boats come.

Also, do you have to make reservations at a vineyeard in Lavaux for tastings?

I appreciate any assistance. I’ve googled many things but I am a bit confused how to navigate this part of the journey.

    Thank you.

    .

    Hi Buddysmom,

You can reach the Chillon Castle either by bus or train as explained here: http://www.myswissalps.com/chilloncastle/gettingthere. To continue to the Lavaux vineyards, I recommend taking the local train from Montreux to Vevey, then switching to the S2 train heading to Lausanne. You can stop at any station in between to hike to the vineyards but most travellers like to hike from Lutry. You can find the trail details here: http://www.myswissalps.com/hiking/lutry-epesses/route

You can use the SBB timetable to plan your journey.

    Regards,

    Anna

The Lavaux vineyards are located all along the hillside over looking Lac Leman (Lake Geneva) between Montreux and Lausanne. One of the centres is Vinorama at Rivaz. To get to Rivaz from Veytaux Chillon you can just catch the local train along the lake – runs once per hour departing Chillon at xx.51 past each hour
