Chillon Castle to the Lavaux vineyards
A traveler is planning a day trip to Montreux, Switzerland, where they'll visit Chillon Castle and the Lavaux vineyards. They need advice on getting from the castle to Lavaux, including train and boat options, and whether reservations are required for vineyard tastings.
- You can walk from Chillon Castle to the Veytaux-Chillon train station, which is nearby.
- Trains from Veytaux-Chillon to Lavaux run frequently, so you can easily plan your trip.
- The Lavaux vineyards are best explored by hiking; many travelers enjoy the trails starting from Lutry.
- It's recommended to check if reservations are needed for vineyard tastings ahead of your visit.

Hello,
My friend and I are excited to be travelling to Switzerland and will be spending one day in Montreaux. We will be touring the Castle Chillon and then would like to go there to Lavaux. Would you be able to advise ways to get there? I believe I could get a train from ‘Veytaux-Chillon. Is this station close to the castle so that I could walk? Do trains come frequently? What about the boat? Is the dock close to the castle? . How frequently do the boats come.
Also, do you have to make reservations at a vineyeard in Lavaux for tastings?
I appreciate any assistance. I’ve googled many things but I am a bit confused how to navigate this part of the journey.
Thank you.
