Does the Swiss Travel Pass cover Schilthorn 100%?

Short summary – read this first

A traveler named Anagan is looking for clarification on the coverage of the Swiss Travel Pass for the Schilthorn cable car. They heard that it no longer covers the full fare and want to confirm the current costs for a cable car ride there. They mention a potential out-of-pocket expense of $35 per person.

Key takeaways:
  • With the Swiss Travel Pass, the first section of the Schilthorn cableway is free from Stechelberg to Mürren.
  • The second section from Mürren to the top is only 50% covered, with a remaining price of CHF 42.80.
  • Always check for the latest details on coverage and pricing for rides before your trip.

    Hi Anagan,

It was entirely free for 2 or 3 years but currently it is not. For Swiss Travel Pass holders, the Schilthorn cableway is free from the valley (Stechelberg) until Mürren. The second section from Mürren to the top is 50% off. The remaining price is CHF 42.80.

    Hi Anagan,

That’s right. With the Swiss Travel Pass, you’ll get discounted travel on the cable car to Schilthorn. It is no longer fully-covered by the STP since a couple of years ago. You can find more details about how to reach Schilthorn here: http://www.myswissalps.com/schilthorn/gettingthere

    Regards,

    Anna
