Extra travel days on the Swiss Travel Pass promo

Short summary – read this first

A couple is planning their family trip to Switzerland and wants to buy a Swiss Travel Pass. They are confused by promotions available for residents of Australia and New Zealand, and are looking for advice on whether to buy the pass online or at the Zurich airport upon arrival.

Key takeaways:
  • Check for promotions on the Swiss Travel Pass, especially for residents of Australia and New Zealand, as they may include extra travel days.
  • It's easier to buy the Swiss Travel Pass online for convenience and to ensure you have a backup in case you lose it, rather than waiting to purchase at the airport.

Thank you Arno. So far i’ve seen discounts/promotions for Indian, Singapore, Australia, and New Zealand residents, no discounts/promotions whatsoever for US residents. Would you please post in this forum if you see one for US residents? Thanks

    Hi Shopper99,

Definitely! Any promotions we get to know about will be announced here, as well as in the promotion section of our pass pages (like the last link in my post).

There have been promotions for the US too, here’s one for example: http://www.myswissalps.com/fo rum/topic/extra-travel-days-on-swiss-travel-pass-promotion. It’s just a bit unpredictable.

planning to buy a swiss travel pass for the family. came across this promotion and had my head spinning. done some additional search with regards to Europe rail. sad to say, it is bad. real bad.

even from trip advisor they are saying to avoid this company. is MySwissAlps endorsing Europe Rail?

    Hi Nini,

We want to provide an overview of all options to travelers. That’s why you see Rail Europe, other companies and even purchase at the station all listed at pass pages such as http://www.myswissalps.com/sw isstravelpass/price. I know Rail Europe gets its share of complaints but it’s not a scam or something like that. Only websites that we trust get listed on MySwissAlps.

    Hi Priti20543,

Currently I can’t see any promotions as in reductions for the Swiss Travel Pass for US residents. There is a promotion offering a free seat reservation to the Jungfraujoch plus a Swiss Coupon Pass though, as you will see in the promotions link.
I recommend keeping an eye on that promotions page to be able to grab one immediately, should it come up.

For information about the mentioned Swiss Coupon Pass go here:

    Good luck and happy journey.

    Best,
    Steph

    Thank you Steph.

Do I need to buy the travel pass and family card in advance or can I conveniently buy it at the Zurich airport when we land there?

    Hi Priti20543,

You’ll find all purchase options (online and offline) here: http://www.myswissalps.com/sw isstravelpass/price. You can buy the pass at the airport train station during opening hours. I recommend to buy it online though, and simply have it e-mailed to you. That’s more convenient: you can print the pass at home, skip the ticket office, and go straight to the first available train. Also you will have a PDF file which is a handy backup: you can print it again in case you lose the pass. A pass purchased at the train station can’t be replaced in such a case.

    Enjoy your travels!
