Hi Jenner,
Yes, the Swiss Travel Pass Flex covers the Glacier Express train (provided that you use a free travel day). So you don’t need additional tickets. You can check Swiss Travel Pass Flex validity details at https://www.myswissalps.com/swisstravelpassflex/validity.
You do need a seat reservation on top of the Swiss Travel Pass Flex. Reservation prices depend on the season. This could explain why you’ve seen different prices a few months ago, when it still was low season.
I recommend this page: http://www.myswissalps.com/glacierexpress/tickets. You’ll find explanation about tickets and reservations there, trusted retailers at which you can buy your reservations, and links to price overviews.
I hope this helps you out. Feel free to ask further questions!

Hi Jenner,
The Swiss Travel Pass Flex provides free travelling (unlimited trips on public transport and discounted rides on mountain transport) on selected days within one month. You can choose these free travel days for free travelling. There are no benefits on non-travel days.

Hi there,
I need help here.
Due to I cannot get the seat reservations from Glacier Express on the date I want, I will need yo drop Glacier Express and replace with something else.
So far my itinerary covers Bern, Zurich, Lucerne and Jungfrau most of the areas.
Could kindly advise what is good to substitute it (do not want anymore mountains visits). I’m thinking of Bernina Express (preferred) or cover other parts of Switzerland. I will base in Lucerne. If travel from Lucerne, advisable to take Bernina Express just for 1 way route?
Any advices are greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Jenner,
I’m sorry you’re unable to book seats on the Glacier Express. The Bernina Express might be a good alternative if you’re interested to include at least one scenic train trip into your itinerary. The Bernina Express route is explained in detail here: http://www.myswissalps.com/berninaexpress/gettingthere. From Lucerne, you could travel to Chur then take the Bernina Express to Tirano (about 4 hours). In Tirano, you can take the bus to Lugano (about 3 hours) and then a connecting train back to Lucerne. Would this fit into your schedule? Similar to the Glacier Express, seat reservations on the Bernina Express is compulsory.
If you are concerned about booking seats, there are scenic train options which require no seat reservations in advance. The Voralpen Express is a perfect if you’re based in Lucerne. Also, you might want to consider a trip on the Golden Pass route from Lucerne to Montreux.
You can find more scenic trip suggestions here: http://www.myswissalps.com/activities/scenictrips

Hi Anna,
I will be holding STP either Fixed or Flexi. Does the Pass cover Golden Pass route? How to book the ticket? I hv a group of 4 adults.
If I need to choose one, between Golden n Voralpen Express which one should I take. I preferred beautiful scenic views.
Thanks ~ Jenner

Hi Jenner,
The Swiss Travel Pass Flex is valid on the Voralpen Express and Golden Pass trains. Just make sure you are travelling on a free-travel day. No seat reservations required. You simply board the train, choose any available seats and enjoy the trip. If you want to guarantee your group are seated together, it’s possible to reserve seats in advance. You can find the details here: http://www.myswissalps.com/train/reservations
The Voralpen Express train takes you from Lucerne to St Gallen in the eastern part of Switzerland. The Golden Pass route takes you from Lucerne to Montreux in the southwest part of the country. Have a look at the detail routes and see which one pique your interest most: Voralpen Express route vs Golden Pass route.
