How to fix a GoldenPass Express reservation with the wrong birth date?

I booked a reservation for my friend that I’m traveling with and got her birth date wrong. I have emailed MOB and asked them to update the info. This is the response:
“Unfortunately, reservations are neither refundable nor exchangeable. However, you can place a new order for the same products and then provide us with the order number so that we can, exceptionally, cancel and refund the previous one. This time, please enter your friend’s correct information.”

Do I really have to buy a new $76 ticket?
Is there a chance we can update her info at the train station prior to boarding?

We plan to take the train from Montreux to Interlaken on 9 Sept.

    Many thanks for any help.

    Kim

    Hi Kim,

I would take them up on their offer: buy a new reservation and get the refund for the wrong one. You’ll at most lose a small amount on exchange rates and banking fees.

I can’t guarantee that this can be fixed at a station. I don’t think it can. Reservations are often fixed, unfortunately. They can’t be changed or refunded normally.

Tickets/passes and reservations are separate, so if the wrong birthday is only on the reservation, that’s the only thing you need to fix.

Enjoy the ride, it’s a wonderful route!

    Hi Kim,

I wouldn’t worry too much if it’s just a seat reservation. The ticket inspectors usually will just look at your seat reservation confirmation and don’t check the birth dates of passengers. The important thing is to have a valid ticket. However for peace of mind, I would go directly to the ticket counter at the train station and explain your situation. Usually a staff would make a correction on the spot and make a note in the system. Please do this the day before you travel.

You can find information about the GoldenPass train here: https://www.myswissalps.com/activity/goldenpass/

    Regards,
