Gotthard Pass by car in August 2020
A traveler named Rmunson1 is planning a trip across the Gotthard Pass and is seeking advice on the three main routes: the tunnel road, a scenic alpine road, and the Tremola Pass known for its many turns. They want to understand the pros and cons of each route to make an informed choice.
- Choose the road tunnel for the quickest and safest trip across the Gotthard Pass, taking just 20 minutes.
- Opt for the alpine Gotthard Pass for stunning mountain views, which takes about an hour.
- The Tremola Pass offers a challenging drive with numerous hairpin turns, and it's typically only accessible from the south.

From the maps I have seen, there are 3 roads.
- The red ‘2’ that tunnels through and very little/no scenery –
- The blue ‘2’ that also has tunnels, but seems to have much more access to views
- A road called Tremola with no tunnels and major/serious switchbacks to get to the top
Is there anyone out there that has done all 3 and has advice/a perspective of the pros and cons other than what I can see/conclude looking at a map?
