We are staying at St Moritz at the moment and today went to Filisur to try to walk to the Landwasser Viaduct North Viewpoint. We were here in March 2023 and tried to do the same but couldn’t find the path to the North Viewpoint near Filisur station and went to the South Viewpoint and to the valley floor and walked to the base of the viaduct. While there we saw a sign for the North Viewpoint but it was too late in the day to go there.

Today we again had trouble finding the correct path and I was using AI for advice on which way to walk but we spent around 3 hours going in different directions and didn’t find the correct way. We did finish up going to the South Viewpoint again and could see some people on the North Viewpoint platform.  We decided to walk down to the valley floor and find the start of the steps up to the North viewpoint but the temperature was around 30 degrees and we were so hot and tired we decided to return to Filisur and on to St Moritz.

We would like to try again in the next couple of days and would appreciate feedback from anyone who has done the walk to the North Viewpoint and which way you went. Would it be easier to just go to the valley floor and walk up the steep steps or should we try again to find the correct path from near the second underpass I read should be where we start the walk?

    Hi Koz,

    Welcome to MySwissAlps.

To access the North Viewpoint, follow the direction for the Henning Viewing Platform or Aussichtsplattform Landwasserviadukt Schmitten. The fastest way to get there is by taking the Viaduct Shuttle from Filisur station to Schmitten GR Landwasserviadukt stop. From here it’s about 5-minute walk to the platform. If you want to hike the whole stretch from Filisur station, it takes roughly 40 – 50 minutes, mostly uphill.
