Is altitude sickness common for visits to JungFraujoch?

Very few trip reports and reviews talk about this.

I suffered some mild altitude sickness when visiting Aiguille du midi (chamonix) at 3800m after only 45 minutes

With JungFraujoch at 3500m – would altitude sickness also be common?

    Hello Ashs,

Generally speaking, light altitude sickness can occur over 2000m, we all react differently. The best thing is to take it easy and sit down when need be.

If you have the opportunity to spend a few days at a higher altitude prior to heading up to Jungfraujoch, this may also help your body adjust.

Likewise, if you have a history of altitude sickness, perhaps have a chat with your doctor, to be on the safe side.

    Kind regards,

    Yolanda

    Hi Ashs,

I second Yolanda’s advice to take it easy and possibly talk with your dr before your trip. I went to Cusco and Machu Picchu last year (Cusco is at over 11000 ft, macchiato pichu is almost 4000 ft) . Our dr advised going to the sites, resting as needed and hydrating. We also bought over the counter altitude sickness pills. My husband and I were great and other members of our group had issues and needed oxygen. It’s hard to predict but I feel the medication helped along with the hydration.

    good luck!
