    Hello!

I am planning a travel to Switzerland in October first week this year for 10 days. I will be travelling with my family – total 3 people. This will be my third time in Switzerland: first for 15 days (https://www.myswissalps.com/community/thread/request-review-of-my-tentative-itinerary-in-early-june/) and second for 1 day in Montreaux. I would love to visit all the places that I have already been to in Switzerland but I also want to see new/unvisited places. So, to keep a balance, I thought to spend 2-3 days out of 10 days in the Jungfrau region which I have already been to.
I have created a tentative itinerary. Could someone, please, review it to suggest if it looks good? From my trip, I am looking for seeing the Alps, enjoying the nature, doing easy hikes (optional), and a relaxing holiday.

I am planning to buy Swiss Travel Pass. In this itinerary, I have picked three base stations: Bern, Interlaken, and Zurich.

    Days:
    1. (Bern) Reach Bern from Luxembourg City. Visit city center and explore Bern.
    2. (Bern) Visit Oeschinensee near Kandersteg.
    3. (Interlaken) Boat trip on Lake Thun. Visit a castle en route. Explore Interlaken.
    4. (Interlaken) Visit Grindelwald-First and Bachalpsee lake.
    5. (Interlaken) Visit Mannlichen, Wengen, and Lauterbrunnen.
    6. (Zurich) Local sightseeing and rest.
    7. (Zurich) Visit St. Gallen and Appenzell.
    8. (Zurich) Day trip to Chur and the neighbourhood.
    9. (Zurich) Day trip to Liechtenstein.
    10. [Undecided] I can add a day more in Zurich to go to St. Gallen area for another day OR add a day more in Bern OR make a visit to Gstaad from Interlaken. Please suggest a good option.
    11. Return from Zurich.

If somebody could suggest a completely different itinerary, I would be open to consider that as well.

    Thanks
    Anshul

    Hello again Anshull.  Welcome back!

Thank you for sharing your latest itinerary with us.  It looks an unhurried schedule.  It is certainly very’doable’.

I have just looked at your previous threads from two years ago.  It looks as though you are trying to cover this year some of the places you were unable to  get to in 2024.  I note in particular that you are now visitng eastern Switzerland.  But what about the southern Italian speaking canton of Ticino?

Here is a suggestion for day 10
Catch the 08 05 IR46 ‘Treno Gottardo’ from Zurich Hauptbahnhof.  (Reservation not required.) Stay on this train all the way to Locarno, arriving there at 11 33.  This train takes the highly scenic ‘old’ 1882 Gotthard railway via Goschenen and Airolo.
Have lunch in Locarno, and then catch a local train to Lugano (they run every 30 minutes).

Finally catch a fast train an (IC2 or EC) back to Zurich.  (Reservation not required.) These trains are  generally twice an hour, go through the world’s longest railway tunnel – the Gotthard Base Tunnel, and (because of that tunnel) take only about two hours!   (A change may be needed at Arth-Goldau.)

    Kind regards
    Roger
