Jungfraujoch/First: additional Top of Europe Pass?
A traveler is heading to Switzerland for the last two weeks of September and has some questions about their trip to Grindelwald First and Jungfraujoch. They’ve purchased a Swiss Travel Pass and are considering whether to buy the 3-day Top of Europe Pass for additional travel; they seek clarification about ticket prices, discounts, and activity reservations.
- You don’t need the 3-day Top of Europe Pass since discounts with the Swiss Travel Pass make it more economical.
- Jungfraujoch tickets are date-specific, so consider waiting for a favorable weather forecast before purchasing.
- Tickets for activities at Grindelwald First should be booked in advance, but you don’t need a specific time slot.
- September weekends can be busy, but are generally less crowded than peak summer months.

Hi,
We will be travelling to Switzerland during the last 2 weeks of September and would appreciate any feedback to our queries below. Thanks in advance.
(1) We have already purchased the Swiss Travel Pass & is considering whether to purchase the most basic 3-day Top of Europe Pass at CHF249 for our travel up to Jungfraujoch. We are planning to travel to Grindelwald First and Jungfraujoch for 2 days.
- Can you advise if the purchase of 3-day Top of Europe Pass is recommended?
- Does the Swiss Travel Pass offer any discount for the purchase of 3-day Top of Europe Pass?
- Does the Top of Europe Pass offer any additional discounts to what Swiss Travel Pass can offer at Grindelwald First?
(2) If we do not purchase the 3-day Top of Europe Pass, we will be purchasing Jungfraujoch tickets for the particular dates that we are planning to visit. We are confused by the different information from the internet.
- How do we purchase the to & fro (return) ticket to Jungfraujoch? Does this cover from Grindelwald all the way to Jungfraujoch? Are these 2 websites the right place to book – (a) Jungfrau.ch & (b) Swisstours ?
- Is there a fixed price for the Jungfraujoch tickets & any further discount for our Swiss Travel Pass? We tried to purchase tickets from Jungfrau.ch website by choosing from Grindelwald station vs. going to Swiss tours website for the purchase & noted different prices.
- Does this ticket cover all the activities & entrance to Jungfraujoch? Are there any other activities which is not covered by this ticket?
- Does the ticket only cover for the particular date that we have selected or across a range of dates?
(3) How do we reserve the activities on Grindelwald First? We are planning to purchase the Grindelwald First Adventure Package. Does this mean that by purchasing this First Adventure Package, we are already confirming our slots on the activities & will just need to appear on that day with our package pass?
(4) We are planning to visit Grindelwald First & Jungfraujoch on Saturday & Sunday. Will there be a higher crowd expected on September weekends?
