Zermatt to Sion via Leukerbad Thermal Baths, what to do with luggage?

We’re planning on leaving Zermatt on a Wednesday in June and heading to Sion for the night. We’d like to do the Leukbad Thermal baths on the way, but can’t figure out what to do with our luggage (3 large bags and 2 backpacks). Every place I search says EELY, but that sends me to bounce, and I don’t think the site is working as when I click on book, nothing happens-any day any time I try, for a week now. Also the reviews say that people showed up to store/retrieve stored luggage, and the business was closed. So far, the only luggage transportation we found meant we would be without luggage for 2 days.

Going to the hotel and dropping off the luggage is not a great option, as that would mean an hour return to the thermals. Any suggestions would be so helpful.

    Hello Riverrockstar.

    Welcome to MySwissAlps

Wonderful that you are going to Leukerbad.  It has a stunningly beautiful location!   Almost as good as Saas Fee!

I have looked on http://www.sbb.ch/en to see if there are any left luggage facilities at Leuk train station.  Disappointingly, there are not.

However, the search I did also threw up ‘Leukerbad Bus Terminal’.  This is a modern building which combines the bus station with the tourist office.  There are no luggage lockers, but there is a left luggage service open Mondays–Saturdays 8.30am–12 noon, 1.30pm–5.30pm; Sundays only from 8.30am–12  noon.

(How long are you staying in Sion?  It is a fantastic base for excursions all over Valais canton.)

    Best wishes
    Roger

Hi Riverrockstar-  last July when we transferred from Montreux to Zermatt, our group stopped at Les Bains de Lavey.  We left our luggage with the front desk and they just kept it for us while we soaked.  Maybe check with your spot and see if they can hold it possibly?  It worked out well and they were very gracious.

Thank you for this info, we will check it out and hope it will work for us. We will only be in Sion one night then heading on to Geneva. We thought there was going to be some great wineries to taste at, but sadly, there are all small tasting rooms in town which is not what we are looking for. My daughter works in the industry in wine country in California and we are spoiled with experiencing the tastings in beautiful vineyard settings. We want to be outdoors in Switzerland so we found the Therme to be a great option.

Thank you for your reply and suggestion. However, we will be in route from Zermatt to stay in Sion. It is not practical to go all the way to our lodging in Sion then hop back on the train to go back and hour in the same direction we came. Hence w would like to find a place near the Therme to store our luggage while we soak, then continue on our way to Sion.

    Hi Riverrockstar,

As Roger has suggested in his post, you can leave use the left luggage facility at the Leukerbad Bus Terminal. Alternatively, it is possible to arrange a luggage transfer using the SBB Luggage Transport service but you would need to book this in advance. Further details here: https://www.myswissalps.com/travel/public-transport/luggage/

    Hope this helps.

    Regards,
    Anna
