New Bernina Express from Landquart to Tirano
A traveler shares exciting news about the Bernina Express, which now includes a new route from Landquart to Tirano, adding about 45 kilometers. They are looking for advice on how to connect from Zurich to this route and whether it’s worth the trip compared to the original route starting from Chur.
- Take the 07:07 IC3 train from Zurich to Chur for the best connection to Landquart and allow at least 10 minutes for transfers.
- Consider that while the new route from Landquart is longer, some may find the original route from Chur more visually appealing due to fewer tree-covered areas.
- The views at the Wiesner Viaduct are limited, so getting off the train to explore isn't possible on the Bernina Express.

As of 11 May 2019, the Bernina Express adds a new option covering the stretch from Landquart via Davos to its journey towards the Val Poschiavo and Tirano (IT). The passage through the Prättigau Valley extends the delightful ride by roughly 45 kilometres. Between Davos and Filisur, the Bernina Express crosses the highest bridge of the Rhaetian Railway, the Wiesner Viaduct.
