Short summary – read this first

A traveler named Cindy85 is planning a 2-night stay in Zurich and wants to visit the Lindt Home of Chocolate as soon as she arrives. She's looking for affordable public transport options from her hotel to the Lindt factory and wants to avoid pricey taxis. Cindy85 is not planning to get the Swiss Travel Pass due to her short stay.

  • Take Tram 10 from the airport to Lindberghplatz for easy access to your hotel.
  • Use the ZVV journey planner for point-to-point travel information and ticket options.
  • Consider the ZVV 9’o’clock day pass for local travel if you're staying in Zurich all day.

    Hi all,

We are staying at the Novotel Zurich Messe hotel. Since our trip is only 2 nights, we are planning to go to the Lindt place as soon as we arrive in Zurich.

We have been informed that it’s very easy and cheaper to get the tram 10 (approx 3CHF) from the airport to Lindberghplatz to get to our hotel as it is right in front of the station.

As soon as we check in, we want to freshen up and leave for the Lindt Home of Chocolate right away.

However, as we are on a very tight budget, we want to avoid taxis as we heard the fares are pricy.

Can anyone tell me if there’s a tram or train (cheaper mode of transport) to get to Lindt?

As we are only there for 2 nights, we aren’t getting the Swiss Travel Pass.

I need to get an idea of the route and timings so I can book the Lindt tour accordingly.

    Please advise! Thank you

    Hi Cindy85,

You can use the Swiss timetable to plan your route and journey from your hotel to the Lindt Home of Chocolate in Kilchberg.

According to the timetable, the fastest way is to take Tram 8 from Schiffbau to Bukrliplatz, then change to Bus 165 to Kilchberg. The entire journey takes about 30 mins. A single journey costs roughly CHF3.40. The timetable also provides a map to help you find your way to your destination.

    Hope this helps.

    Regards,

    Anna

Since you are staying only in the Zurich area, I recommend you use the local Zurich travel network (ZVV) web site.

    http://www.zvv.ch/zvv/en/home.html

You can do point to point journey requests and find the best ticket (this can be a zonal fare or a day pass. I recommend you get the ZVV 9’o’clock day pass. Get this on arrival at the tram station at Zurich airport for tram 10, which is a short walk out from the terminal.

To get to Lindt, just put ‘Novotel messe’ as the start point and destination ‘Lindt’ into the ZVV journey planner and it will come up with the bus stop at the factory, as : Kilchberg ZH, Lindt & Sprüngli

To avoid too many changes of transport mode, you may find it easiest to take tram 10 from Lindberghplatz to Oerlikon station (10 minutes) then route S24 S-Bahn train Oerlikon – Kilchberg (23 minutes) then walk from Kilchberg to Lindt (10 minutes)

Hi Cindy85, I think no one has mentioned this page so far: http://www.myswissalps.com/zurich/travel. It helps you to understand how to get around in Zurich.

Noted, you are not interested in the Swiss Travel Pass. Have a look at the Zurich Card: https://www.getyourguide.com/activity/zurich-l55/zuerichcard-save-on-attractions-transportation-and-dining. In case you are interested in museums and other attractions in Zurich, this might be the best for you.

    Take care,

    Ildiko
