    Hello,

We plan to rent a car from GVA and return in Tasch.  We see other forms of transportation but we select to rent a car for flexibility to stop in some places.

We plan to drive from GVA to Annecy, Annecy to Chamonix, and Chamonix to Tasch.  Our route will be cross border between Switzerland and France.  Is there an rule with border crossing?

How do we pay for Toll?  Is there a toll booth for us to pay with credit card?  We look at the driving routes and all of them have toll required.

And please suggest car rental companies.

    Thank you very much.

    Hi Heart Voyage,

You can find information about car rental companies here: https://www.myswissalps.com/travel/car/rental/

In Switzerland, you would need a motorway vignette. Most car rentals would have this but it’s best to ask just in case. You can find details here: https://www.myswissalps.com/travel/car/motorway-vignette/

In France, you would need to pay tolls if you drive on the motorways. You can pay by cash or card at the exit toll booths.

In general, border crossing between Switzerland and France involves no immigration check or passport control.  Occasionally, border police might do custom checks on goods (usually on commercial vehicles e.ge. trucks, lorries) as Switzerland is not part of EU.

    Regards,

    Anna
