German power adapter work in Switzerland?

Short summary – read this first

A traveler named Rockoyster is planning a trip to Switzerland and is confused about the compatibility of their Australian plug adapter with Swiss sockets. They need advice on whether they need additional adapters for their two-pin appliances and where to purchase them once they arrive.

Key takeaways:
  • German plugs won't fit Swiss outlets; you'll need an appropriate adapter.
  • Look for InterDiscount stores in major train stations for adapters; they stock a variety.
  • For USB devices, consider buying a USB adapter in Switzerland to avoid compatibility issues with hotel outlets.

Hi. I am trying to locate on the Zurich Airport Map (or the main train station in Zurich) a Interdiscount store to purchase the triple adaptor AlpenRose discussed. Help?

    Bonjour,

    Please check this link

The Location Plan tab says: Airport Center Check-In 3.

    Hope this helps!

    Thanks…’LeVoyageur’ (ah…canoeing in Algonquin!),

I had pulled up that map but it wasn’t making sense. Now, it does. Thanks.

If you don’t have any luck at the airport, here is a map of Zürich Hauptbahnhof, with legend showing location of shops, including InterDiscount, which is #444. Looks like they also have a smaller shop on the other side of the shopping hall, #445.

    http://www.sbb.ch/content/dam /infrastruktur/trafima ge/bahnhofplaene/plan-zuerich-hb-shopping.pdf

The shopping hall is below street level. Opening hours for InterDiscount are Mon-Fri 08:00-21:00, Sat-Sun 09:00-20:00

If you can’t find the adaptors and have to ask for them, this is what they are called:

    STEKO Abzweigstecker 3xT13

    Alpenrose
