How much time do we need at Jungfraujoch?

Short summary – read this first

A traveler and their girlfriend are planning a trip to Jungfraujoch on March 26th. They want to visit attractions like the Sphinx Observation and Lindt Swiss Chocolate Heaven and need advice on how much time to allocate, meal options, and ticket costs. They also seek help interpreting a diagram about the attractions.

Key takeaways:
  • Plan to spend at least two hours exploring the attractions, including lunch.
  • There are self-service restaurants and souvenir shops, but you can also bring your own food.
  • Tickets are not required for the attractions, except for snow activities.
  • Consider taking a walk to the Mönchsjochütte for stunning views and a great lunch.

    Hi ericjoe,

I’m not sure if you’ve seen our page yet, but you’ll find a lot of information there: myswissalps.com/ jungfraujoch.

I think the diagram says you need at least an hour for the attractions and another hour if you want to do snow activities too. I would say you need two hours even without the snow activities if you want to take your time (recommended anyway at that altitude) and have lunch too. You don’t need tickets, except for the snow activities.

There’s a self service restaurant. The souvenir shops may sell snacks, but I don’t know if they qualify as a proper lunch. You can bring food yourself if you wish.

I haven’t been up there since Lindt opened but it should be easy to find. There are signs to find the way. I’m sure they want you to find their shop 🙂

    Have fun!

If you have 2 hours more time, make a walk from Jungfraujoch to the Mönchsjochhütte. The walk to the hut takes one hour include fotoshots and the walk back takes 30 minutes. It is an easy going way. You should have good shoes, even when you see there people with sneaker with textil material. Have a look here:

    Mönchsjochhütte, English:

German ( let it translate by google translator:

It is an amazing, easy walk and you see down to the biggest glacier of Europe. On the hut you can get a very good lunch!!! Don’t forget your camera!

    Hello all!

I was following the thread and had a question of my own. I’m going to be in Switzerland and was planning to go to Jungfraujoch as well, but in mid-late April instead of the end of March. I know that April is the slow season and so I was wondering if you know if the activities mentioned above would still be available–i.e. the hike to the Monk yoke hut and the snow fun park?

    Thank you!

You can choose on the top line “Summer” or “Winter” for the fun snow park:
