I think it’s a good idea to carry a printed copy with you as well, in case of a flat battery or losing your phone.

Yes, I agree with Alpenrose – no need to add the Swiss Travel Pass to the SBB app.
Just download / save to your smartphone and show it to the ticket inspector upon request. Good idea too, you may also want to print out the PDF copy as a back-up.
