Storing Swiss Travel Pass on my phone or SBB app?

Short summary – read this first

A traveler named Nole is planning to use the Swiss Travel Pass (STP) during their visit. They want to know if they can add the STP to the SBB app for easy access and are looking for alternatives to keep a digital copy while traveling. They're hoping for some practical advice from the community.

Key takeaways:
  • Save the Swiss Travel Pass PDF to any app on your device that can display it, and show it to the conductor along with your passport when asked.
  • It's a good idea to carry a printed copy of the Swiss Travel Pass as a backup in case your phone dies or gets lost.
  • You can also save the Swiss Travel Pass in the Apple Wallet app if you have an iPhone.

    Hi Nole,

Just save the Swiss Travel Pass PDF to any app on your device that can display it, and show it to the conductor (together with your original passport) when asked.

I think it’s a good idea to carry a printed copy with you as well, in case of a flat battery or losing your phone.

    Hope this helps!

    Hi Nole01,

Yes, I agree with Alpenrose – no need to add the Swiss Travel Pass to the SBB app.

Just download / save to your smartphone and show it to the ticket inspector upon request. Good idea too, you may also want to print out the PDF copy as a back-up.

Here’s our handy guide on how to use the Swiss Travel Pass, scroll to “How does the Swiss Travel Pass work?”, there are some purchase options for the pass too, in case you needed some in the “Where to buy your Swiss Travel Pass” section:

    Kind regards,

Hi Nole—I have an iPhone and saved my STP in the Apple Wallet app, which worked very well.
