    Hi Agniman

You need to study a detailed map of Switzerland.

Looking at your other thread, I would avoid Geneva, as it is right in the western corner of the country, consider Montreux or Vevey for western Switzerland.

I know from personal experience that Zurich is a good base for exploring the whole country: https://www.myswissalps.com/town/zurich/; Chur is a good base for the south-east of the country, especially if you want to travel on the spectacular Rhaetian Railways.

If you are going to do a lot of travelling in Switzerland, you need to consider buying a Swiss Travel Pass (https://www.myswissalps.com/travel-ticket/swiss-travel-pass/)

But above all, underlining what Alpenrose and Yolanda have said in your other thread,  you will need to do a lot of reading (and a lot of planning).

    Very beat wishes

    Roger

    Hello Agniman,

I’m not sure how long your entire trip will be in Switzerland? If more than a few days and lots of travel is anticipated on public transport, for sure a rail pass would be a sensible investment.  The Swiss Travel Pass that Roger mentions covers all of Switzerland but there are other regional passes that could make sense, all depending on your plans here.  More on all Swiss rail passes here:

As much as Switzerland is very well connected for travel, have a think of what you are planning to do whilst here?  Are you traveling alone, with family, in a group? Traveling is very personal.  I would also research some journey times from some sample cities you mentioned in your other thread, that way you can see what is doable for you?  Here’s the link to the Swiss timetable:

    Kind regards,

    Yolanda
