i have in the past year or so ago purchased the swiss travel pass with no problem. i have an account and able to fill in both my wife and i no problem. we r us citizens.  i get to the purchase page and denied everytime. using a chase sapphire.  ive told both chase and visa about this.  any ideas welcomed

I’m sorry to hear that. Unfortunately, payment issues do occur sometimes for various reasons.

Please make sure you are purchasing from the official SBB tourist webshop here: https://www.swissrailways.com. They are geared to tourists and foreign payment methods. The other SBB website is mostly geared to Swiss residents. You do not need a user account.

If that does not help, I recommend calling your bank while you are trying to purchase from that same website. My experience is that banks may initially claim all is fine on their end, but when they can look into the transaction while you buy, they tend to find that they block specific transactions, e.g. larger foreign purchases in a foreign currency. And they can solve that for you.

I just booked a half fare card using my Chase Sapphire card from the US and had no trouble. I booked it on this website: https://www.swissrailways.com/en Hope it works for you soon. Good luck and happy travels.
