Nicjan, first thing – for day you choosed there are only 15 seats left (2nd class only) in “Bernina Express” to Chur (whole route), splitting by two different carriages. More – there are only 2 free seats next to window…

Hello Kamil,
we paid seat reservation for July 8 Tirano to Chur but did not buy the train tickets due to waiting on the schedule to purchase the Rome Termini to Tirano segment.

Hi Nicjan,
It’s great that you have secured your seats on the Bernina Express. You can find information on how to purchase the tickets here: https://www.myswissalps.com/activity/bernina-express/
Will you be travelling in Switzerland for a few days? You might want to consider using a rail pass such as the Swiss Travel Pass (https://www.myswissalps.com/travel-ticket/swiss-travel-pass/), which is also valid on scenic trains such as the Bernina Express.
Let us know if you need more info.
Regards,
Anna

Hi Nicjan,
The journey to Tirano from Rome is going to be very long. The issue is that there is track work on the regional train that goes from Milano to Tirano, so portions must be done by bus (on a trip that was already like two hours to begin with). Yo also have to travel from Rome to Milan. I am no expert, but I did the Bernina Express at the end of June 2022, from Zurich to Milan. We took a Swiss train to Chur, the Bernina Express, and then the regional train to Milan (https://www.myswissalps.com/travel-guide/italy-switzerland/). Because of the track work, we had to take a bus from Tirano to Colico and then a train from there to Milan. It looks like now it’s a different part of the route that has you going on a bus. I encourage you look this up on “The man in seat 61” website, as well as the trenord website (official website for the Italian regional trains). In addition, I purchased the super saver day pass (https://www.myswissalps.com/travel-ticket/saver-day-pass/) for the Swiss trains directly on the website and save quite a bit of money that way. Maybe check out if that is still an option.
Hope this helps,
TM

Thank you TM, very much appreciated on your reply.
So construction is still going on as I looked at the schedule from Ilatia railways. Taking the bus will be a challenge for us since my son uses a wheelchair.
we’ll take the route from Rome Termini straight to Zurich. Hoping we can get a good scenic route too.
If you have other suggestions, let me know.
