Buying tickets to Jungfraujoch online (without seat reservation)

Short summary – read this first

Mikhail is planning a trip to Jungfraujoch on June 6 and is trying to buy tickets online. He is confused about different prices and how to use his Swiss Travel Pass Flex, particularly regarding seat reservations and the availability of a Good Morning Ticket.

Key takeaways:
  • Purchase tickets from the Swiss Railways website to use your Swiss Travel Pass Flex discount without needing to pay for an additional seat reservation.
  • The Good Morning Ticket for 95 CHF is no longer available; instead, you should use the regular fare with a discount from your Swiss Travel Pass Flex.
  • For the best price, ensure that you buy your Jungfraujoch ticket in advance, as it may include mandatory seat reservations during the peak season.

    Hi,

I understand that this quite popular question and there is a lot of information on MySwissAlps.
Nevertheless, I need to ask for a consultation.

I have seat reservation on 6/6/25. I did it on website http://www.jungfrau.ch some time ago.
I understand that the day prior to journey or even on the day of journey I will have to buy tickets. Preferably online.

So, I was trying to make a dummy purchase just to understand how it works.

    1) First of all, I tried to use the same website http://www.jungfrau.ch for buying tickets. Here I faced with the first unexpected situation. Yes, it is possible to buy tickets, but system includes seat reservation (10CHF p/p) into the price saying that seat reservations is compulsory. I could not find a way to tell the system that I already have seat reservations. So, price for the ticket was 167CHF (I have Swiss Travel Pass Flex) plus 10CHF p/p for seat reservations, thus 177CHF in total, and I would pay for the seat reservation twice.

Then I referred to links provided by MySwissAlps at http://www.myswissalps.com/activity/jungfraujoch/

    2) Website http://www.swissrailways.com
I was able to make a dummy purchase without seat reservation, ticket price was 168CHF

    3) Website http://www.getyourguide.com
Price of ticket is 260CFH and till check out step the system does not ask, whether I have any discount.  Do you know, if discount is suggested on check out step?

    4) Website http://www.klook.com
The system suggests ticket only for round trip by “Eiger Express 3S Cable Car” from Grindelwald Terminal to Eiger Glacier and back. Price of ticket US$ 67.15
However, this is not a trip to “Top of Europe”, correct?

So, from 4 websites that I used only http://www.swissrailways.com is really working in terms of buying discounted tickets (with STP discount) without seat reservation.
Please correct me, if I am wrong and I would highly appreciate any advice, if I missed anything.

Also, one more question: if I buy tickets via http://www.swissrailways.com, where the tickets will be sent?To my e-mail address?

    Thank you,
    Mikhail.

    Hi Mikhail,

    Thank you for sharing.

I would go ahead and purchase the tickets from the Swiss Railways website (https://www.myswissalps.com/link/stc-jungfraujoch/) and choose the discount offered with the Swiss Travel Pass Flex. Upon payment, the ticket will be sent to you by email as an e-ticket or in PDF format with a QR code.

    Regards,
    Anna

    Hi,

    One more question, please.
I’ve just leant at websites MySwissAlps and Jungfrau.ch about so called “Good morning ticket” which cost 95CHF.
It has restrictions that  the latest departure from Interlaken Ost must be at 7.34and the latest departure from Top must be at 13.17.

    How to buy it?

Website https://www.swissrailways.com does not suggest it.
Website https://www.jungfrau.ch/en-gb/jungfraujoch-top-of-europe/good-morning-ticket/good-morning-ticket-kaufen/  looks like a website dedicated exactly to buying this ticket. However, it suggests the full price 222CHFwhich is completely non-understandable.

    Could you please, explain?

    Thank you in advance,
    Mikhail.

    Hi Mikhail,

I think the 95CHF Good Morning Ticket offer was for last year (May-November 2024). The current Good Morning Ticket offers a 15% discount which is automatically applied when purchasing.

    Kind regards,
    Yolanda

    Hi Yolanda,

    Information on MySwissAlps is saying:
“Can I get a cheaper Good Morning Ticket?

Yes. The ticket is available from 1 May to 9 November 2025. On your way up, you must use a connection that includes a departure of the cogwheel train from Eigergletscher no later than 08:45. You must leave Jungfraujoch no later than 13:17 pm. Find details here.

A Good Morning Ticket for a round trip from Interlaken Ost costs CHF 185. With a valid Swiss Travel Pass (Flex) you’ll pay only CHF 95, and with a Swiss Half Fare Card CHF 105.”

    Link “here” is:
    https://www.myswissalps.com/activity/jungfraujoch/?cid=24318&h=789a1dd72474ca82466274dd05ad0b7e#resources

It provides list of “Other websites of interest
    There is website among them:

However, when I am trying to purchase a ticket for a train departing from Interlaken Ost at 7:04am, the site gives me price 220.80CHF.

I am just looking for an advice. Since websites do not provide opportunity to buy Good Morning ticket the only option is to buy it at counter (if Good Morning ticket exists at all).
Due to early departure it is probably impossible to buy Good Morning ticket on the day of travel.
What time counter at Interlaken Ost is opening on weekday/weekends?

    Thank you and kind regards,
    Mikhail.

    Hi Mikhail,

Just circling back on the Good Morning Ticket situation.

Thank you for your patience and bringing this to light.  The Good Morning Ticket for 95 CHF no longer exists. It has since been replaced with the 15% discount.

Our website has since been updated.

In short, the Good Morning Ticket would not make sense.  You are best to use your Swiss Travel Pass Flex to purchase your Jungfraujoch ticket regularly, whereby the discount would be allowed. Price wise, from Interlaken Ost, you are looking at 157.80 CHF, this includes  the mandatory seat reservation, which is required between May and August.

    Kind regards,
    Yolanda
