In mid May I went to Maison Cailler on a busy day. Walked into the ticket area at 1400 and all signs said “next tour available is at 1800”. I went up to the counter just to be sure and the host confirmed that I had read the sign correctly, apologizing for the crowds. I gave a disappointed look to my friend who I’d brought for her first visit. The host paused and said, “Are you by chance traveling with the Swiss Travel Pass?” (This was the first time in several visits I’d been asked this up front.) It turns out that currently one cannot reserve tickets online using the free STP discount so they save a few spots each hour to accommodate those customers. Our entry ended up being just a 30 minute wait.  So be sure to mention the pass if this happens to you. Another perk to this convenient pass.

    Hi Laurae,

Thanks for the tip! I hope you enjoyed your visit.

Admission to the Maison Cailler is free with the Swiss Travel Pass (https://www.myswissalps.com/travel-ticket/swiss-travel-pass/) and also to the La Maison du Gruyeres (the cheese dairy in Gruyeres). Most visitors combine the two excursions together as a day trip from Montreux or Lausanne.
