    Hi,

I have read the details posted on the link re the Pocket Wifi hotspot device on this website and also the forum threads.

Have some questions specifically regarding the Zurich airport pick and drop off:

    1) When we order online and pick it up at the Zurich airport Service centre

    a) is there a dedicated line for pick up of the device or will we have to join the general queue if there is a long line of people waiting?

    2) We will drop it off at Zurich airport Service Centre as we will still wifi on our way to the airport for our return flight to Singapore:

    a) is that possible to drop it off at the same service centre at the airport

    b) any one knows the opening hours? We will have to check in for our flight around 08:30am (international flight departure 11:30am).

    c) How far is the Service Centre from the Zurich Departure Hall?

    d) When we drop it off, do we have to queue up to do so if there is a line or is their some drop off section?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Traveljet,

The Service Center at Zurich Airport is located above the shopping area, about 3 min walk from the arrival 1 and 2. You just have to follow the “Service Center” signs. Opening hours: 06.00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.

To save time and to reserve a device in the stock, they recommend to pre-order the WiFi-Device online, you can do it here: http://www.myswissalps.com/simcard.

You can drop it off at the same place. Dropping is very fast. A pre-paid return envelope for Switzerland is included. You can drop it into any Swiss Post letter box, at any Swiss Post office or at box at any of the multiple rental locations.

To get your device it might take longer, it depends on the line.

    Hi,

I will not drop it off in a post box because I still need it on my day of departure. Hence my question about returning it at the service center in Zurich airport

So at Zurich airport, I place it in the envelope and pass it to the same service center where I first collected it?

Is the service center in the same building as the Departure Hall and is it a long walk?

I’ve picked up and dropped off several times and have never waited in line for more than 5 minutes. There’s no special queue. It’s the same location for pick up and drop off. Short walk from there to airline check in areas.

    Glad your experience was easy.

When you mention the service centre is near the check in counters, you are talking about International flights like SIA counters and not the Swissair departure side which is quite far apart? I remember in 2019 Swissair had a dedicated side building entrance but unsure if its still that way.

Appreciate if you can you recall what was the time frame when you collected and returned the device before catching your flights.

I remember the last trip when we opted for the SIM card, the wait was very very long at the shop as many people needed to be attended to. That was around 9am when we flew in. Just planning to ensure it’s not going to be stressful having to queue up for too long especially on the day of departure in case there is a train delay or hiccup and we are rushing for time.

Hence my questions so I can make an informed choice.

    Hi Traveljet,

Just wanted you to know that there are post boxes at the airport as well. At least two near the main entrance/check-in area. So, you can use the device until the last minute, and simply drop it in one of the yellow Swiss post boxes. It hardly takes time and they’re available 24/7.
