My wife and I are headed back to Switzerland in 3 weeks, and this time we’ll be spending 4 days in Montreux. We have been there before but for shorter periods of time, and didn’t get much time to explore restaurants in town.

While we thoroughly enjoyed the complimentary breakfast at the Grand Hotel Suisse Majestic – great options and wonderful lakefront views – we only had cheese or meat trays in the bar at cocktail hour. We never really ate a lunch or dinner there or anywhere else in Montreux. We’re not looking for anything high end or gourmet, just good regional food at a reasonable price. So for those who have eaten in Montreux, what are your favorite places?

I’ve also read about the regional vineyards, and would like to do a little wine tasting of local wines. The Vinorama in Rivaz is a possibility, but I read about a small wine shop in Montreux – La Cave Montreux Riveria – that also does tastings by appointment. Have any of you been to either one and, if so, how did you like it? Any other places besides the actual vineyards where you’ve enjoyed a glass or two of regional wines?

Hi CabinJon,

If you are flexible, I’d  definitely recommend spending some time exploring the Lavaux Vineyards and its numerous little villages. Maybe pick one or two like Chexbres Village. You’ll find lots of cosy and unique cafes there. You can also do wine tasting at Domaine Bovy.
