Zurich 9 o”clock day pass to Rhine Falls?

Short summary – read this first

Gabriela and three friends will arrive at Zurich Airport on December 4th and are planning to travel to the Rhine Falls. They want to know if the ZVV 9 o'clock day pass covers their journey and if they can purchase it at the airport. They also need clarification on whether this pass is valid for the Rhine Falls trip on a Saturday.

Key takeaways:
  • You can use the ZVV 9 o'clock day pass all day long on Saturday within all zones in Zurich.
  • To reach Rhine Falls, take the S12 or S33 to Schloss Laufen am Rheinfall; if you go to Neuhausen am Rheinfall, you'll need an additional ticket.
  • You can purchase the ZVV pass at ticket machines or online from the ZVV website.

    Dear Sirs,

I and 3 friends will arrive in Zurich Airport on the 4th december ( saturday) at 10.30. Can we buy a 9 o’clock day pass and use it all day long ( ( as it is Saturday) to go from the airport to town and then to the Rhine Falls and back? Can you confirm me if the Rhine Falls are in this pass zones? If so, do we need any extra ticket or this pass will be enough ( as it is Saturday)?

Is it possible to buy it in the airport?

    Thanks a lot

    Gabriela

    Hi Gabriela,

    Welcome to MySwissAlps.

Yes, you can use the ZVV 9 o’clock day pass all day long on Saturday within all zones in Zurich. To travel to Rhine Falls, make sure you take either the S12 or the S33 to Schloss Laufen am Rheinfall. There is another stop called Neuhausen am Rheinfall, which is located at the opposite side of the riverbank. This stop is outside of the the ZVV network and you will need to get additional ticket to travel via this route.

You can buy this pass from the ticket machine or online from the ZVV website.

Hi Schroffchetan! The Zurich Card is valid in zones 110, 111, 121, 140, 150, 154 and 155. This is basically the city of Zurich and its immediate surroundings. You’ll find links to network maps and more information at https://www.myswissalps.com/zurich/travel. “Schloss Laufen am Rheinfall” is in zone 116, so you’ll have to buy additional tickets (from Stettbach or Dietlikon which are still in the validity area) to get there.

You’ll also need tickets for some of the promenades along the falls and for the boat rides. Please refer to http://www.myswissalps.com/rhinefalls/tickets and http://www.myswissalps.com/rhinefalls/gettingthere for more information.

    Does this answer your question?
