I will be in Lucerne for 2 nights at the end of July with dad and brother. We are all active and interested in hiking / biking.
We were thinking to do either Mt. Pilatus via the Golden Circle OR Mt. Rigi. I have heard that Rigi is a bit quieter so due to the time of year we are leaning towards that. If we only choose one, which would you recommend? And also, any specific hiking trails around Mt. Rigi to recommend? We were thinking the Mt. Rigi Panorama trail.
For the second day in Lucerne we might rent bikes. Any beginner/intermediate trails to recommend? Dad and brother are avid mountain bikers but I am more of a beginner.

Pilatus and Rigi are really different, so it’s hard to choose. If you want to combine your trip with some hiking, Rigi offers more options. The Rigi panorama trail between Rigi Kaltbad and Rigi Scheidegg is stunning indeed. It’s an easy, broad path along a former railway route, offering varied views. You’d best study the pages below and decide for yourself:

There are several trails along the shores of Lake Lucerne, which should be quite easy for beginners too :-).
