Hi, I am planning to spend three days in Switzerland. I am starting in Zurich, then heading to Lucerne, and then on to Montreaux. I want to take the golden pass from Lucerne onward. I also want to do a boat tour of Lake Lucerne and see Mt. Pilates. I would like to do and adventure activity along the way such as paragliding or zip-lining. I am thinking that purchasing the Swiss 3 day pass would be the best idea…any advice? I also need to quickly make my way back to either Zurich or Geneve to catch a fairly early flight to Prague. I am interested in hiking and doing activities outdoors. I will be traveling mid June.

I am grateful for any suggestions, guidance, and advice!

    Thanks!!

Hi Cmf163 and welcome to MySwissAlps!

Are you planning 1 night in each town? What is your itinerary? 3 nights and 4 days? or just 2 nights?

If you get into Zurich early enough I’d head straight to Lucerne for 2 nights, then Montreux for 1 night (or perhaps Geneva for 1 night if your flight from Geneva is quite early).

A Swiss Travel Pass is a good option for 3/4 days traveling around Switzerland.

For suggestions on what you can do around Lucerne and Montreux look here:

You could on the way to Montreux stop in Interlaken and try paragliding there or in nearby Lauterbrunnen. Lauterbrunnen also gives you access to a lot of hiking as well.

Thank you Lucas. I am planning to stay one night in each. I want to see the Rhine falls and then head to Lucerne. I thought about stopping in Interlakken for paragliding or zip-lining but I didn’t know if I would have enough time. I haven’t booked my flight yet, still trying to figure out which will be faster and more economical; flying from Geneva or Zurich. I’ve only booked accommodations for Zurich, Lucerne, and Montreaux. I still need a train ticket and plane ticket. Thanks again!!

You can use the Swiss railways timetable to plan out each trip you make and then decide how much time you have in each town for activities etc.

I’d try to go in via Zurich and out from Geneva if possible.

You can start in Zurich – do the Rhine falls on day 1

Day 2 – Lucerne – you can do the lake and take the Golden Pass into Interlaken

Day 3 – spend the first half in INterlaken ..before taking the golden pass to Zweissman (very scenic). There is a bus detour at Montobavan which takes you to Montreax and end the day at Geneva

A 3 day Swiss pass would be ideal .

Day 3 (alternate) – you could use the swiss pass to head up to Mount Schiltorn and return back to INterlaken onward to Bern and Geneva.

Note the towns are Zweisimmen and Montbovon if searching for the towns mentioned by Travelholic6.

The construction causing the bus detour is scheduled to be completed June 1. So you won’t have to worry about it.
